Literally I had my clothes, my small electronics in my carry on, and one box with my Classics and Botcon Exclusives (Gotta have some toys). My computer arrived later as I Fed-Exd it to myself. But Living 30-45 minutes from work I needed a car, as I flew here and left almost all of my stuff in Minneapolis for later moving.

So with Gas millage in mind, but at the same time not wanting something like a Geo Metro I went shopping. In the end I decided on a Kia Optima. Nice little car really. The 16V I4 has enough kick, and the Tiptronic Transmission is a nice plus. The best feature (Aside from the great gas millage) is the stock Infinity Sound System, though the Head unit is going to go. I'm looking at a Kenwood Double DIN unit with Ipod controls.

I then initiated the rite of Autobrand

and Gave it a little 'tude

All in all a great car. enough room for me and the kids to take a road trip to Disneyland. Enough power to blast down the freeway at 80 or so as everyone here likes to do. Great Gas Millage, and a Killer Sound System.

    Shin is pleased.

Oh and yes it needs a bath but I'll wait for Monsoon season to end first.

Welcome to Arizona and I hope you get to enjoy our pleasant monsoon storms! We just had a nice pleasant storm here in Tucson. Sorry your move didn't go as well as you planned, and I hope you get the rest of your stuff.

I'm waiting for monsoons to end as well so I can thoroughly (if I'm able too) clean my Ridgeline inside and out.

Thanks Bro! Yeah it was a last minute thing as I was told about my transfer in the Boston airport while waiting for my flight back from Botcon. I then went into the 2 week mad rush to pack and store my stuff. Hop a plane and start work.

I'll fly back up and get my stuff probably in a few months.

I made the mistake of getting a car wash last Saturday, after having the car less than a week. The massive flooding that followed made me hit a curb and blow a tire.

Thankfully you didn't get caught in a wash, and have your car totaled because of flood damage. A blown tire is a small thing in comparison. When it is raining pretty good, stay away from washes as they can flash (LITERALLY) flood. Here in Tucson when we have a lot of rain they give advisories on the news and alert drivers to flooded washes and problems. It may be fun to splash and drive through a wash, but the water can rise VERY quickly.

Since Queen Creek is sort of on the outskirts of Mesa, AZ, if you live in the "country" I'd recommend learning about our flora and fauna and avoid driving over cactus parts. Some cactus needles can easily puncture a tire. Some of our "fauna" can also carry a nasty bite, like Black Widow spiders which you are more likely to encounter then a rattlesnake. But, don't worry too much and have fun out here.

Glad you made it okay. Beware of Arizona drivers in the rain. We like to go as fast as possible to stay on top of the flooded roads.

Thanks for the update bud. How is that thing for headroom? My Civic barely has enough for me, and you're a full head taller than me at least.

Headroom lacks, but it was a tradeoff.

I thought you didn't like the movie stuff.

Nice to see you made it, and nice ride. Kia's are starting to come around in build quality and bang for the buck.

Don't those things (kias) have like a 10 year warranty or something?

I don't think the warranty is valid for anyone but the first owner though.

We've had moonsoon season here in NW Florida as well. It's been raining almost everyday. Rolling thunderstorms just popping in off the gulf. Haven't been able to was my car in over a month or so.

Oh.. that sucks, I bought a few used cars that still were under warranty because of the mileage and it transfered - but they were Dodges.

Welcome to Arizona, don't let the monsoon get you down the winters here are worth the pain of the monsoon season.

Welcome to Arizona. It's fucking hot. That is all.

No but seriously, this monsoon weather in Tucson erks me. Tucsonans are the worst when it comes to driving in the rain. And the fact that were have no drainage system on our roads is also class. "Oh we don't get a lot of rain." Yeah but when we do central downtown is fucking flooded. Hopefully where you're at Shin you won't have this problem.

Yeah, we may be hot, but it is a DRY HEAT!

Tucsonan drivers, for the most part, can't drive for shit in the wet and rain. Without fail, at least one idiot gets stuck in a flooded wash per storm and gets their rescue televised. I love driving through water, but I'm not stupid enough to drive through a wash out here when it is raining!
