Hey! Someone did that for me when I was in the military! Unfortunately, that was about 11 years ago so I have no idea if they even told me how they set it up. If I were you, I would look up your local recruiting station for any given branch in your area, which should be easy to look up online or in the phonebook. They could probably point you in the right direction.

Sounds like good advice to me.

Also I just asked my co-worker who was in the military. First off he said that what you plan to do is "awesome" he said to contact the USO and they would guide you in the right direction.

Damn that's awesome man. Definitely contact your local recruiter or the USO if there's a listing and I'm sure they'll be more than happy to help you out.

Props to you bud, that's an excellent way to spend the holiday.

You could try to ask at your local VFW post, Legion Post or National Guard Armory.

Just wanted to update, we did get ahold of the proper people, we were approved and we are to go to the base on thanksgiving morning, between 7-8, see what basic trainees are available and pick them up for the day. With all the movies, games we have Im sure they will have a good time. Plus we have a huge TV for football. Ill take pics to show later.

My family used to do this when I was growing up in San Diego.

It was great until the one year where the two guys decided to get drunk and one was crying and the other was coming on to an underage family friend.

    Ahhhh memories...

I hope everything goes well. They should be appreciative and polite, and you're doing a great thing either way.

My hometown of Pensacola is a Navy town. Every Thanksgiving and Christmas, civilians will invite Sailors and Marines into their homes to spend Thanksgiving and Christmas with them. A lot of the Sailors and Marines stationed in Pensacola can't go home to celebrate the Holidays with their families.

2 more days! Me and the wife are nervous and were cleaning real well tonight, while she is baking some pies for thursday. We should have more than enough food, if they allow us, we'd like to bring 4 instead of 2. Im kinda of worried on how to keep them entertained; I know there'll be football on tv, we have movies (1160), the 360, Wii, and PS3, but then again they will be with us all day.

Thats kinda funny, you show up, they line up and you pick whoever you want! It a great thing youre doing! Kinda sucks you cant take them all, hopefully nobody gets left behind!

I wouldnt worry about not entertaining them enough, all anybody really does is watch tv anyways. They'll be happy to do whatever you're doing!

    Here are some pics

We were honored to have these 2 young ladies with us for thanksgiving. They are from Ohio and California and we wish them the best in their careers. It was an awesome experience and hopefully the wife and I can make it an annual thing.
