I find it was absolutely necessary for Prime and Megatron to have dialogue. However, I don't see how that would've worked without other Autobots speaking as well. Any thoughts long after that controversy?
Early in production, word was none of the robots were being written to speak in the film. I'm not sure if that was ever true, but the fandom exploded in outrage(like everything else).
Oh totally. They're characters in & of themselves, not just mindless robots. Even though they're 100% CGI characters, doesn't mean they shouldn't talk. In Dragonheart, they had Draco, a 100% CGI talking character & that movie would not have been the same had he not spoke. The Decepticons didn't talk much, but the explanation (why learn the language of a race you think are insects) as to why they didn't makes sense. Here's hoping we get more dialogue with some of them in the next movie. I'm guessing they'll have a larger budget for the next movie, due to the amount of $$$ this movie is gonna make, so hopefully that'll translate into more screen time for the 'bots. -Quickswitch
yeah as i understand it the reason there are so many shots missing and so little bot screentime is because of a tight budget
