So any an entire universe has gone boom? Meaning that Cybertron from that verse and what I assume Optimus and all the others from that timeline are dead?

The "Classics"-verse was supposedly an update-slash-continuation of the original G1 continuity. That never really worked for me anyway, but whatever.

With IDW bringing back (one of) the "real" G1 continuity in Regeneration One, Hasbro and FunPub decided it was time to get rid of the imitation, in case someone got confused (not that I think anyone would have been). At least, that's the explanation I heard. It won't affect the toys, but it will affect the FunPub fiction, which is fine by me.

Sounds kind of unnecessary and somewhat over-dramatic. Though really how much of a fiction was Classics anyway? A few Funpub comics? All that Transtech stuff?

No. Transtech is a different continuity altogether

According to Funpub, anyway. Which is like... Tier D fiction, really.

Let's face it, the FunPub stuff is basically fanfic. If it wasn't, Hasbro would have forced the other media to make reference to it by now.

I don't subscribe to any of the Classics fiction. I merely regard Classics as updated versions of G1 characters, with the associated storyline remaining the original G1 storyline. Think a G1 remake with more modern designs, if that makes any sense.

It's worse then that: it's licensed fan fiction. Someone got paid to publish it and someone profited from it.

Don't worry about it now. It's gone, and you didn't miss anything.

You missed some cool GoBots fiction. Hope they made it home or to Earth...

-ZacWilliam, always found the "fanfic" compairison complete silliness. It's created and approved in exactly the same manner as all other TF Fiction. It's as official as anything gets.

That's about the only good thing about the Botcon comics: Gobots brought into the TFU.

-Tony Lucas, if you subscribe into this whole "something published for about a thousand people as canon" club comics crap, then it took an army of Nightbirds to take down Wheelie and Daniel.

I subscribe to the "anything officially liscenced by Hasbro is officially canon" fact. Because it is and has ever been the only officialy way of determining TF canon.

-ZacWilliam, also there's TONS of stuff as stupid or stupider in wide release fiction. Canon doesn't mean good.

I think I had more interest in the like 3 or 4 Fansprojects mini comics/instructions then I ever did in the club fiction.

The Club fiction has a lot of WTF going on with it. I think it's good and entertaining, but at times I'm scratching my head.

Classic-verse never grabbed my as much as some of thier other continuity (Thier original Unicron Trilogy has always been a winner for me) so I think 4 factions in one universe will make for some interesting stories. As for Canon I'll take FP stories over a lot of Mike Costa.

I mean the plotline with Cliffjumper and some other bots finding their way into some kind of interdimenional nexus city, administrated by Transtech TFs. Isn't FunPub behind that?

This. They're toys. For us. Any additional attached fiction is pretty much just a conceit.

It's fanfic unless it's written by some disaffected professional writer who is only doing it for the money, who knows next to nothing about the characters, and is contemptuous of the whole project. Then it's official. :)

"Canon" also doesn't mean that we have to accept it as part of any particular narrative line, because there is no single defining Transformers continuity. That something is "canon", at least in the sense that most fandoms use that term, means almost nothing in Transformers because of the fractious nature of the fiction. Hence, The Beast is technically canon, but doesn't have to be acknowledged by, or applied to any other story ever. Which is great. :)
