Well it seems like there have been a lot of medical discussions here lately, and now I've gotta throw my hat in the ring now with it too!

One of my good childhood friends just got back from spending 2 years in Irag, and we (friends/family) all notice he is acting markedly different. We're not sure if it's just general change after something like that, or something worse...

Anyone out there have PTSD, or have any experience dealing with someone with it?

    THANKS!

Some talk show hosts say it doesn't existl, because they would know from their extensive military records and time spent in combat. /end sarcasm

Hell, I know people that were in tame areas that just came back different people, not usually for the better.

not those talk show hosts... I'm talking about more talk shows that present themselves as news, but are really just talk shows...

I have PTSD but mine is from childhood sexual abuse, so it may be different than say those who have it from serving etc.

    my dad has it.
if it isn't real, then i'll climb trees and throw my feces at the zoo.

I have seen my dad stare at kudzu at dusk, and stare like he found someone hiding in it.
My dad on more than three occasions has attacked my mom while she slept, speaking in Vietnamese to her.

i have listened to him and listened to a lot of his comrades and i can tell you PTSD is real.

    sorry about being so serious.
i just don't get a person who's most traumatic experience in life was teaching for 2 years before going back to journalism school can say something that silly.

If you can remember that Baby Jessica rescue 20+ years ago, the man that pulled her out, later killed himself.
why? PTSD. he never got over the pressure he was put under.
