So after being pointed in the right direction, I went out and bought this compilation for the PS2. This disc contains:

    • Metal Slug
    • Magician Lord
    • King of Fighters '94
    • King of the Monsters
    • Samurai Showdown
    • Art of Fighting
    • World Heroes
    • Fatal Fury
    • Last Resort
    • Top Hunter
    • Sengoku
    • Burning Fight
    • Shock Troopers
    • Super Sidekicks 3
    • Neo Turf Masters
    • Baseball Stars 2

For $20, it's one of the best compilations since the first Capcom Classics disc. There are only a few stinkers on the disc (Neo Turf Masters, Super Sidekicks 3, Fatal Fury). One of the cool things about this set is that it features a Medal system that's similar to Achievements. The emulation of the games is spot on for the most part, though Fatal Fury seems to have a lot more slowdown than I remember. I mainly bought the disc for Baseball Stars 2, Metal Slug and Sengoku. All play perfectly. It's discs like this that make things like the Virtual Console so overpriced and not worth it. Today Metal Slug was released for $9. That's almost half the price of this disc. For fans of Neo Geo games that have a PS2, PS3 or even a PSP, this is a great pickup.

Worth it for Baseball Stars 2 alone.

On the topic of 3 Count Bout, is it even possible to beat more then a couple of opponents without breaking your fingers? The amount of mashing involved in that game makes Track and Field look like a visual novel.

Awesome madness though, smoothing out the rough edges from what was a quarter gulper to make it actually playable at home is just a winning, winning formula.

The HELL I went through to buy this collection.... I called the day it was supposed to be out. "Did you preorder it?" "Nope," "Well then we didn't get any copies." Called every Gamestop and got the same story. Called Game Crazy, and the same was said. Took a drive to San Antonio and randomly stopped at a Gamestop (Ala Charlie in Willy Wonka, when he got the ticket....EXCEPT)... and I found a PS2 copy, picked up the box, walked to the counter and the guy in front of me had just bought the last one, so basically they took the empty case from me and gave it to the guy in front of me. I ended up walking out with the PSP version, which was fine, because I played Samurai Showdown the whole weekend out of town.

King of monster's and KOF '95 would be nice additions as well for the next collection.

And you'd think they would have released a Samurai showdown collection, but I haven't been able to find it.

Yeah, I'd like to see the Neo Geo Double Dragon again even though it was pretty awful.

    That's coming later this year.

I second that. Do you think they'll replace the sprites with the much-needed Hasselhoff upgrades?

King of Monsters is on the disc. And a Samurai Showdown Anthology is being released for PS2, PSP and Wii.

    PSP you say?

I would love to rock some Magician Lord, King of the Monsters, or Baseball Stars 2 on my PSP. Didn't know this came out for that.

Yes sir. Unfortunately, I had to pay 10 bucks more for it (29.99), but this was one instance where I didn't really mind... Portable SS FTW.

    Hasselhoff > Marc Dacascos
Although, you can't really argue that the Neo Geo Double Dragon was based off the movie. I guess 'Rage of Dragons' was closer to being based off the movie.

I thought SNK\Playmore was going to be bringing some of these games to XBLA.
The only recent release I can think of is Fatal Fury Special whose main feature seems to be a complete lack of features -including the ability to play another on the same machine. :(

OK...the people at your Gamestop are insane....being a $19.99 game there WERE NO PRE-ORDERS on SNK classics... I had a bunch of customers that would have, including ME! I think it's stupid that they don't offer pre-orders on "value priced" games...
