I say V-Neck FTW!
So they want to circumcise the male population of Africa. How will this be easier than getting them to use condoms?
Bingo. You win! Here is your prize!
Newborn infant baby boys don't wear condoms?
There's more than one way to pluck a chicken.
True, although how effective will that be when the adult population is still shagging like mad and children are being born with AIDS?
how about castraiton?
Yeah for me!
And as for the babies...if they are born with AIDS or HIV, no amount of condoms or circumcision will help...
I just read this. considering the historically religious context of the procedure, this could have some interesting implications...
That is the first thing I thought of. Hopefully this thread doesn't turn into a religious debate, but I will say that I am betting this procedure will not be well received.
Like I said, the African people already feel jaded by the Europeans and other religions, why would they accept religious practice (and a very painful one at that) to 'control' themselves.
I know that, as an adult, I would be far more open to using condoms than I would to the idea of letting some surgeon cut bits off my main man down there.
I'd rather wrap my rascal than trim my turtleneck.
Anyone want to prolong their life
I can't see anything good coming from this. Personal opinions about circumsision aside, this just falls into the "a little information is a dangerous thing" category. Start telling people that getting circumsised will reduce the risks of AIDS and there will be circumcisions being done all over the place, most likely a lot in less than reputable medical facilities. God only knows what kind of problems that would cause.
Circumcisions are not going to help children born with AIDS, and if you think you can educate adults as to why a foreskin increases the risks of infection, and where and how to get it safely and properly done, then you can certainly educate them on how to use a condom or not share needles or not have too many sexual partners.
This is nearly as dangerous as somebody telling people that having sex with a virgin cures AIDS. this just has a bit of medical backup.
Wow, Rowan Atkinson was RIGHT!
*Waits to see if anyone actually gets that reference.*
I did! But then, I've been watching the Comedy Network pretty much non-stop since it came on.
For some reason, I don't see men going out in droves to get their manhood hacked up, no matter what the benefit. Call me crazy, I just don't see it happening.
Even if the science is kosher, this is still one of the stupidest things I've ever heard. It's like saying, "To reduce the number of kids on the academic 'low track,' we're going to do away with the track system altogether and put all kids on the SAME academic track! Then there'll be no more on the 'low track!' "
It's the wrong, yet apparently partially viable, solution to a far larger issue.
