Can you name any, since I can't recall any other than Hardtop (Cybertron/Movie) at most.
I think energon inferno was a sniper.
They're not explicitly called snipers in their profiles, but G1 Mirage is "an expert marksman" and Jazz "can use his solar-powered photon rifle with deadly accuracy up to a distance of .9 miles from target." Any good?
Nightracer is described as being a sniper.
As Optimus Sledge pointed out, there are several TFs that can perform the role of a sniper, but their function doesn't specifically describe them as such. I guess it's a very specialised role, and even in a war like theirs, there's probably only so much call for dedicated snipers, and the need for active mechs means that most of the time such mechs would be better served in more generalised roles.
However, the Targetmaster Sureshot is a sharpshooter, and the Action Master Treadshot is a gunslinger, and both are decribed as being particularly handy with a firearm.
I do have a sniper fan character called Twitch, but he doesn't really count toward the topic...
Similar to others mentioned, Blast Off wasn't a sniper (his function is Space Warrior, actually), but he could hit targets 12,000 miles away.
If that doesn't qualify him, I don't know what would.
G2 Smokescreen is a "sniper" IIRC.
Really? TFU's entry for him doesn't have a Tech Spec bio at all.
And in Europe, the guys you called Darkwing and Smokescreen were (as far as I could figure) a single entity known as Stealth Assault. I had the impression rom them that they were one character with two components, sort of like Sky Lynx.
Smoke Sniper is a Robot Masters Decepticon.
Well, there's that giant-ass sniper cannon that Cliffjumper pulled out of his ass in the G1 series (image via TFwiki.net):
Movie Longarm has the sniper look, but there's no mention of that.
Just because you have a big gun doesn't make you a sniper, especially if you can't hit anything like ol Cliffy.
Yeah, Cliffjumper really doesn't strike me as having the mentality of a sniper.
And he has that gun in one episode of the cartoon, it's not part of his standard equipment.
Cliffjumper is, as his Classics bio nicely describes him, a brawler. Most, if not all of the time, his first instinct is to get in there and crack some jaws.
A sniper, is cool, calm, and patient.
I understand you've probably seen a lot of movies, but damn near every one I've met is high strung, nervous, and irritable all the time.
The only fellow I can think of like you describe was this young kid from Iowa, and I bet he ends up like the rest eventually.
Fair point. Actually, maybe I didn't think that through. I haven't met any snipers, but I have read a few books with snipers kinda like you describe.
Either way, still not Cliff.
But surely once they're in position behind a rifle, they settle down and wait?
Hell, I hope so. Can't imagine they get the job done if they don't.
But I'd be lying if I said I'd ever seen one actually working.
Stepper/Ricochet? TFU.info lists him as a "Multi-shot Man," whatever the hell that is. It DOES say he has "the most accurate marksmanship of all the Cybertrons." That's pretty sniper-y.
Also, Bluestreak is always described as a "gunner," but I guess that's not the same thing.
Separate names with a comma.
