This is something I dreamt up several months back but haven't had the time to bring to fruition. It's meant to be a mechanical skull, though I'm getting a strong Optimus Primal vibe right now.

It started life as a RiD Prime head. I cut away the crest and filled that gap, then removed the "guns" from the sides of the head and filled that space. Teeth were cut from styrene and fitted to the mouth, as well as the chin being shaved down. He still needs a fair bit of sanding and shaping then some lines scribed to resemble bone plates.

Anyone care to guess who he'll be? :D

Admittedly I have a[very] short attention span. The one way I can combat that is to have several projects going so when I get bored I can pick the other up and work for a day or two on it, then go back. Right now that list includes(but isn't limited to): Animated Roller, Animated Tick, GoBot Pathfinder, Universe Countdown, 1/48th scale Movie Blackout, Movie Nemesis Prime and several that I can't mention yet.

P.S. Don't worry the Tick, Ani Roller and the others are still on the priority list :D

That's a very nice idea, and I appreciate the tip! I'm afraid it would be too easy though, I love super-gluing my fingers together and suffering multiple lacerations in the process of a project...no, really :D

That is quite neat...something for thought while I plan the helmet.

Oh yeah, loving the swords... but i don't get a bludgeon vibe from from the head yet, kinda reminds me of this... Can't wait to see more, what plans do you have for the helmet?

Yeh, the swords really make the character. An absolute ton of paint will do wonders as well, of course. The helmet will be scratch-built and resemble that of his G1 Pretender shell counterpart.

I spent some time separating the teeth, I think it adds a more organic look, as well as making him far more sinister:

shame there doesn't appear to be much room left for the head to clear for transformation when you add a helmet.

Whew, just got home from work! Let's see what happened while I was away...

Haha, it sure is and thanks! I don't think I ever commented on how adorable your daughter is, she's too cute! I have three boys myself, kids are too precious!

Indeed, shamefully it'll likely be removed for transformation. I'll see what kind of magic I can work via folding/collapsing and maybe integrate it into alt mode. I have plans for the sword hilts to become cannons while in their sheaths on the alt mode.

    Thanks guys!

Haha, I appreciate that comment! I actually have quite a few duplicate toys around, and they're all open aside from a few of the "exclusive" items/sets; they all represent ideas of mine. I have a list compiled of projects I intend to work out in the next year or so. If it keeps growing it could well take the whole year up!!!

Though I love Mr. Simon Furman, I'm afraid that his portrayal of Bludgeon (as well as the several artists working on his scripts back in the day) have perhaps messed with Bludgeon a bit much, as no one hardly remembers what the original looked like actual robot mode:

I digress . . . I think one of the things that struck with fans originally (and still does) is the cool look of the skull face. That being said, I think this custom will end up doing a good job of combining both ideas, as well as spinning into something all its own (the mold choice of leader Brawl doesn't work as G1 Bludgeon, as his shell was a shogun warrior of sorts, but that's ok :) ). I think you've done a most excellent job of marrying all of the really, really cool elements of the original and spinning it into something you own. Nice work :thumb

*Rubs sleep out of eyes before heading to work*

How do I manage to log on RIGHT after someone comments? SQ7, you actually responded to the same thoughts I went through when considering my take on the toy. I considered going with a simple head resculpt and paint. As if a giant tank that shape-shifts into a 40-foot tall robot isn't scary enough, there's something FAR more sinister and demoralizing about a skull head to we "fleshlings."

I just saw Bludgeon as a bit more calculating and generally nasty, and figured he'd do whatever he needed to scare the bajesus out of us.

That being said, I really appreciate your comments and am glad you saw the direction I took before I even explained it further :D
