    Heheh, wicked news!

Though the "Belgian" name they quoted (Schtroumpfs) is actually the German name. I think Belgium uses "de Smurfen". ghehe

I loved the moment in Donnie Darko where Donnie finally was fed up with his friends' "discussions" on that.:lol  http://youtube.com/watch?v=qACNqaEkHmE (NSFW, BTW)

I thought there were three female Smurfs eventually- Smurfette, Sassette, and Granny Smurf.

BTW, looks like some of our favorite voice actors have smurfed their way onto the show. From Wikipedia:

    # Frank Welker: Clockwork Smurf, Hefty Smurf, Peewit, Poet Smurf, Puppy, Wild Smurf
    # Susan Blu: Granny Smurf

    -Tony!
Could find no proof racist Smurfs in 15 seconds of googling.

I'm going to skip past all the comments and state that I am excited about this. I grew up with these things. My order of childhood memories are, Smurfs, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Fraggle Rock, Gobots, MASK, and then Transformers. But I always enjoyed that Smurfs, albeit cute and blue were always surrounded by darker themes and cool characters. In fact, some parents complained about the show being satanic, and that's all i needed to like them more, hehehe.

I am really excited about sharing these with my kid.

I wonder if they are going to change the way they look. I had heard a while back that it was going to be CG, so I wonder if they will go the Shrek route and give them little pores on their faces, or if they will go the Jimmy Neutron road and make them very cartoony.

I believe that in the Robot Chicken S1 commentaries, Mark Hamill revealed he was the uncredited voice of Brainy.

Whether that's true or not, he did an awesome job on the voice.

I don't really care about Smurfs but I hope Hamill can get some work on this. :D

They should redo the tv show and have it be like Smurfs LOST, where they're stranded on island, but they're not alone!

I wanted to buy that when it came out, but I kept putting it off. I think I'm going to order this if it's not still at my Best Buy.

As far as the LOST Smurf episode... The last episodes of Smurfs had them trapped in different time periods, unable to get home.... Don't ask how I know this.

If that's true he did an amazing job because it doesn't sound anything like him. If you said he did the voice of Joker, I would say yeah, it sorta sounds like him. But not brainy.

Michael Bay will be directing, and Smurf fans everywhere will declare Bay ruined their Smurfing childhood by putting flames on Papa Smurf and making Brainy Smurf look like a bird.

I loved Smurfs as a kid. I remember when my family got the first color TV, me and my brother awaited eagerly the next of episode of Smurfs to see if they were really a little, blue people.
