    Could it be?
Or will it just be a persistent rumor like the one about an edible Pot Noodle?

I hope there is some weight to this, especially after the cliffhanger ending to series 8.

    I hope this is true.
Whatever happened to the movie they were apparently making anyway?

Not bothered whether it happens or not personally. As much as I love the show, it went to pot after the last Ace Rimmer episode and i'm never in favor of making more of something regurdless of how far it gets past its sell by date just for the sake of it.

I can imagine Red Dwarf ending up like Only Fools and Horses if this gets out of hand, trotting out an aging cast every crimbo to phone in the same old hat just to keep a few million people from tuning into ITV.

Last I heard, the RD movie had gone as far as having script-readings, but could not secure any actual funding.

Being one of the 3 people who didn't mind Season 8 I'm all for at least some conclusion, but if this is just a one-hour special I don't have high hopes for that happening.

Now I'm going to have the Rimmer song stuck in my head ALL day. Damnit.

... Without him, life would be much grimmer ...

Here's hoping this is true. I may have hated season 8, but I still want some form of resolution to that cliffhanger. Doug Naylor should have given up on the movie years ago and just gone ahead and done another - hopefully much better - season.

While series 8 wasn't the best, the ending was a bitch. And a consulsion to that would be welcomed.

But I do agree on the Only Fools and Horses comment.
Mind you, I must be one of the few who actually didn't like that show to begin with.

Wow, so you're the other Season 8 fan out there...

I hope this is true, I am never against any new Red Dwarf.

"Well spin my nipplenuts and send me to Alaska!"

Not sure how I feel about this... I'd love a proper ending but I've got a bad feeling this won't end well.

Last I heard about the movie (circa 2002) it had been trapped in pre-production hell for 8 years already.

    Number 4 here!

The only thing I didn't like about 7 and 8 was the actress they got for Kochanski. C.P. Grogan was MUCH more believable in the role.

Neat that that was revealed in Seattle!

Red Dwarf is something I wanted to get into. I have seen season 1 but then the PPS station that was showing it here started moving around the day and time it was on, I had trouble finding it and then by the time I did track it down they stopped running it.

Luckily they ran every episode of Are You Being Served twice a day for 50 years.

I didn't mind season 8 at all, much better than season 7.

But I doubt any new production would be a return to the glory days of S3/4/5

I liked season 8 as well... it was fun seeing an expanded cast again. Cassandra was a brilliant episode, and Archie was my vote for best new character.

Well, tied between him and Pete.
