If you don't want an iPod, then your best bet would probably be an Android or a Droid or something... at least that's what I've heard.

I'd probably say the Samsung Galaxy S2 or Galaxy Note. I haven't tried the Razr though.

Damn I'm bringing this one back :lol

I'm due to be receiving a new phone soon, and I was looking into the Droid Charge, mainly because it's free w/ 2 year contract. All the reviews for it are pretty discouraging though, so now I just want a phone that's somewhat cheap and runs a newer version of Gingerbread..any advice?

I've got the Xperia Play. since I got it long after release its actually really easy to get them on cheap contracts. Mine costs me £15 a month and im locked in for 2 years (£15 being like me working 2 hours or so)

you can also knock them up to 2.6.3 with the Sony software or go even up to 3.0 if you want to hack them.

Dang. I know a guy that has that phone, from what he says it isn't the greatest. I really want a Bionic but it's a bit pricey :/ That phone seems to be a great deal better than the Charge though. There's also the LG Lucid I'm looking into, that one isn't too cheap either :lol  Honestly I'm tired of my Ally freezing up and having very little memory, I don't even have that many apps on it. I just want a really good phone that won't piss me off on a daily basis.

I have the Rezound. Better reviews than the Charge but if you do get it get the extended battery or at least an extra battery. Normal use and you can get 8 hours. Get on the internet and such down to 4!!! Other than that, great phone and trust me I am hard on phones. Went through 5 phones in one year.....

Dang, I think the Rezound is a bit high for my budget, and I think short battery life is plaguing every smart phone :/ I'm searching up on the Lucid right now, for an LG it looks pretty promising.

Verizon and I'm trying to keep it under $100. Right now I'm thinking of going for the Lucid, the Droid X2 just isn't very attractive to what I want, the Bionic is $100 so I'll see about that one, and I don't want a Blackberry.

Thanks :)  I hadn't looked into the Stratosphere yet, I'll take a whack at that one.

Yeah I had no intention of leaving Android, I hear the iPhone OS is awful anyways.

I'll chime in here as well.

I have a Droid 2 with Verizon and I love the phone. I'm due for an upgrade in either July or August, and am sizing up my next purchase.

That's what I upgraded from. The leaps phones take every 6 months is crazy.
