Being sick of and hating are two different things. Im 99% of the way to piecing together a G1 Ultra Magnus, I have the original 3 Seekers in various states of comletion, a Bumber, a Clifjumper, and few other toys. My profile pic on here is Soundwave for Primus sake. If wanting the fiction to stay fresh and alive by bringing in characters that new fans grew up with is hating G1, then I guess I'm the biggest hater of G1.

The sky's the limit if the Cyberverse Shockwave toy is anything to go by.

    Great Moments in creativity, everyone:

"BORRRRRRING. You know what we needs ta do? Add a FIFTH ninja turtle! That'll keep things fresh!"

"I got a great idea! Let's make a Spiderman 2099 feature length movie BEFORE anyone in the general public knows who Peter Parker is. Furthermore, let's make him the new leader of the Avengers. Ol Cap needs to sit down"

"GENTLEMEN! Three stooges is old hat! Behold -- the fourth stooge!!"

"Seekers, eh? Lightbulb! Let's give a fan made character the place of a fundamental franchise staple. I'm totally slipstreamin' right now. Me so genius"

Slash is not a fifth turtle, he is a supporting character at best, and certainly not the NEW LEADER OF THE NINJA TURTLES

Jokes on you Slipstream has been around since 2008, has appeared in Animated, WFC, funpub stories, Kreo, and G1 games and manga. Hardly a fanmade character. Also it may not have occured to you yet but the reason this thing is called Transformers is because they change a lot. Quite a shock I know, but it would be weird for the franchise to never change anything.

Except if you read the whole post again you’ll see that I said IF HANDLED CORRECTLY. Slash is a fifth turtle that was handled properly. Venus was not. Simple as that. Venus could have been a good character if she had been introduced in a different series. But she was introduced in a crappy series that literally mishandled every aspect of what it was trying to do

The franchise is called Transformers because it's about Transformers

The Transformers concept is already established

No need to disguise poor creative decisions as "a transforming, ever-evolving" thing, it comes across more like an identity crisis

Except going by the transformation concept alone will only take you so far before you need to try something different otherwise you'd end up having the brand go the way that many other 80's brands did because it refused to go out of its comfort zone from time to time. That's why we got things like Beast Wars,Minicons, combiners, headmasters,Animated, etc because they helped kept the brand alive by trying something new every now and then.

Yep, all the while losing the opportunity to cement the central characters into the public consciousness and thus be able to actually grow into a legitimate entertainment platform, and not the little insulated mancave that currently is the transformers community
