what do you guys use to fall asleep? pure silence, music, or one of those sounds machine things like the rain forest or the ocean? my fiancee and i have been thinking about getting a sound thing thinking it might help, cuz we both toss and turn alot...i used to sleep to music, which helped, but i slept to a lot of heavy stuff (dillinger escape plan, comeback kid) with a little mix of hip hop or indie rock thrown in every now and then, but theres no way we'll both fall asleep to the same music now....dose anyone have suggestions about sound boxes? or just what you use in general...

The sound of the neighbors going at it usually puts me to sleep.

    They aren't very energetic.

I use an air purifier. The best though is a window unit AC fan. Nice sound while making the room feel like an ice box=me catching some serious ZZZZZ's.

I tend to listen to classical music, or an audio book. Something funny. I've also got a meditation cd that I'll stick on if I need to put an effort into relaxing.

Nothing. I can get to sleep pretty fast.
Nice quiet room means and I'll be off to the land of nod.

Though knocking one out before usually aids in getting there quicker.

I think your record was about 35 seconds at OTFCC '03, hehe.

I find drink gets me to sleep faster. Or prehaps more normally, when I haven't had anything, it takes longer...

I used to sleep in the back of a Bradley Fighting Vehicle. Think the feel of a shitty wooden rollercoaster with the sound of a lawnmower next to your ear in a space the size of a bathroom. Also, it's completely dark, and the bench is a foot shorter than me and only about twelve inches wide.

I learned to rack out in about five minutes like that, and can now sleep anywhere, including during dentist appointments and haircuts.

The sound of it sloshing in my stomach is what gets me. That and the sound of Boardwise knocking one out.

I need complete silence so I use ear plugs. I envy those, like my wife, who can fall asleep in seconds. It literally can sometimes take me over an hour to fall asleep.

For years I've preferred the gentle hum of computer fans, but since I moved into my condo, I've been using the ticking of clocks instead. Currently I have two in my bedroom set so that their movements are a few milliseconds off from eachother, and the effect is quite nice.

That's really cool. I would do something like that but then I'd have to give up my projection atomic clock. I never thought I would love to see the time and temp up on my ceiling but now I can't do without it.

Lately I've been going to sleep to the sound of the humidifiers upstairs in my kids rooms being broadcast through our monitors. Hoo hah.

If you find the sound of ticking soothing, have you considered getting a metronome?...

I can fall asleep pretty fast, but the sound of the filter in the fish tank helps me out.
