So, I picked up Sky Hammer from DotM today. He's not a bad figure. I am having trouble deciding, however, who he better represents: Whirl or Rotorstorm.

While he does not have the mono-optic head of G1 Whirl, there have been multiple incarnations of Whirl that did not feature such a head - hence my conundrum.

Please weigh in on the topic and help me decide - Whirl, Rotorstorm, or Other (please state in your post).

**Edit**Even though it should be obvious, I do not mean to infer that the figure needs to represent any other character officially. I am simply asking for a representation in my own collection.**

There is a whirl in the second wave of human alliance basics and even if he is'nt very tall, the dude definitely has whirls chest and ski feet.

Skyhammer is a G1 pretender by the way. Though I could see rotorstorm working do to the colorscheme if you have to give him a classics name.

Yeah, I know that the second wave HA coming out is named Whirl. He isn't very Whirl-like to me, though. Skyhammer from G1 is nothing like this version of the character with the same name.

He is very Classics Whirl'esque IMO. And I'll buy him for that purpose.

He's Skyhammer, he doesn't represent anyone but movie Skyhammer. Not everyone has to be an homage.

We have the right to repurpose our figures as we see fit, dude.

Maybe I should have been a little more clear: I'd like to re-purpose him. While, no, officially speaking, he does not need to homage any other character, I have decided to do so with him. Who, in your opinion, does he better represent for my collection?

If it makes you feel better, I've edited my initial post to reflect that which should have been obvious.

Ok, defend your position. Why do you say Magnus? What about the figure seems to say "Ultra Magnus" to you?

Right, with you now, are you actually looking to mod and re-paint him, or just use him as is?

If you're re-painting then I say go dark purple and make him Spinister, the mould fits better for him than for Whirl or Rotorstorm imo.

Ahem... What bout Deathcobra? i dont see him having a toy at all, heck DOTM Skyhammer does have similar alt modes and have some blockyness. like come on,just give him a new head and make him green and yellow and there you go with your classics deathcobra.

Neither.... Skyhammer is clearly another dimension-hopping refugee from the crumbling Gobot universe, where he was known as Wrong Way:

    Wrong Way

Okay, obviously I'm being mostly tongue-in-cheek, but seriously:

    -dark-colored attack helicopter
-lighter-colored head with faceplate and visor
-rotor that ends up squarely in the middle of his chest

And while I'm sort of joking, I think he'll honestly end up on my Gobots Classics shelf along with Bugbite, Fracture, Deadlift, and Highbrow.

A Gobot homage,Well played, good sir,Well Played indeed,Whitemocha. but yeah i know the mold would also make a good base for a Classics-esque Deathcobra retool, though yeah i might fall in deaf ears,or perhaps not but that's just me blathering.

I said he'd make a good Rotorstorm in his review thread but nobody agreed. I think his headsculpt with the visor looks Rotorstorm-ish and the cockpit of his alt mode is very similar to Rotorstorm IMO.

He definitely fits in well with CHUG over all. I really like his bot and alt mode, so he's the first DOTM I plan on picking up.

There we go. At first it looked like: "WHO IS DIS GUY HASBLOW GAVE ANOTHER NAME TO" but I imagined this is where you were coming from. :p

But I still don't see any real way to repurpose him. He's unique and hard to double as someone else in my eyes.

ive had the same thought in my head, and ultimately i decided to use him as Whirl. Whirl was a wrecker and i imagine his body was older tech, with the monoeye, claw hands and ski feet, so he received an overhaul and upgrade from Wheeljack during extensive repairs after some battle somewhere.

    hows that?

I don't think he has anything particularly in common either color wise or sculpt wise with either Whirl or Rotorstorm. You're free to repurpose your toys to be whoever you wish, but I really don't see the reason you would need to shoehorn the connection with either of those onto Sky Hammer.

If you needed an old character to use, why not Chain Gun? His head sculpt, yellow cockpit, and grey color are at least a little closer: Chain Gun (1992) - Cybertron - www.tfu.info
