Face looks crappy, like one of those random BW scouts instead of resembling the actual jap mech-ish sky bite head design.
Well despite the registration woes this year at least we have gotten to see all of the figures before hand. I'd still rather have had registration by now but I know a lot of people have never been crazy about buying it sight unseen. Sky-Byte isn't bad, probably my least favorite in the set, but I really like the rest so that isn't necessarilly a bad thing. The Gnaw or Sharkticons or whatever we get in the addons sounds nice too so put together with them he'll be even better.
No wonder they almost ran of business....other than streetwise, this set is terrible....we see why it a forgotten generation, sheesh!
I concur. This was the figure I figured was going to be the high-point of the set, and though the alt-mode is good, the head sculpt is... unfortunate.
re-ducks! re-ducks! re-ducks! They're redoing G2. Drawing from various TF lines, figures that fit in with the G2 theme. Crazy colored sharks feels very g2 to me. And they're also tossing some Beast Warsy love into the set.
You mean tell me none of these are g2 figures? I don't know g2 line, please help undestand what is these figs suppose to represent then?
I think I liked the pastel colors in the earlier preview figure better than these colors. Those had way more of a late 80's vibe.
exactly... breakdown and streetwise were... and Pyro and Clench make a ton of sense... and we've seen pics of what'll probably be Slicer and Rapido, both g2 figures... so uh... not seeing what you're seeing i guess...
Breakdown and street wise are G1 characters, same with clench and pyro. The box set is very silly, but im excited for the bagged sets
Smells like Descent into Evil to me. Clench is the only semi-cool looking one to me but I personally feel like the head is out of place. It would have been nice if they re-imagined his head and designed it to fit in more with the classics line. It just looks too alien to me. I was all about the G2 theme, but.... I also find it odd that only Decepticons/Predacons got new heads this year...
One could argue for Spark and Clench, since they're of that nebulous "G1.5" era. But what he's saying here is that none of the box-set figures are original G2 characters. Spark and Clench are "European G1", released in Europe and Japan before the Generation 2 moniker came to pass, but generally accepted as such anyways because their aesthetics fit. Breakdown and Streetwise(Streetstar) are G1 characters in their G2 decoes. Sky-Byte is from Robots in Disguise, from a toyline 7-8 years after G2 came out. We do have that Prowl-as-Rapido repaint, which is probably an at-Con exclusive of somesort, but thus far, he's the only G2 original character.
