Could someone please tell me how these two are racist? I mean really. I think they're pretty funny. And no, I don't think racism is funny. I strongly disapprove of racist people.

 

They can be funny in a mean way.

 

The jive talk and the whole "we don't read" thing. The irony of calling them racist is that Mudflap's VA is in fact African American.

Their characterization hearkens back to stereotypes on TV and movies that are thankfully forgotten; thus the reason the present generation can't understand the hubbub over accusations of racism.

I think the whole "dead languages" part was lost on the people lobbing the accusations of racism. They just saw two characters with big ears and gold teeth speaking like a couple of punks and automatically assumed.
