Can anyone who has read the book or script explain (without spoiling too much) how in the world the Autobots keep up with the Decepticons?

What I mean is: Optimus Prime is the largest Autobot. Ratchet and Ironhide are next in size and not so big as prime. Bumblebee is smaller yet and Jazz is the smallest. On the Decepticon side: Bonecrusher is about the same size as Prime, Brawl is bigger, Blackout is bigger, Starscream is bigger. And based on the squeaky-toy Jazz vs. Megatron clip I'd have to guess Megatron is the biggest one of them all. Only Barricade is smaller.

So how do the Autobots beat them? Better weapons? More robo-ninja skill? Someone mentioned that in the book Jazz gives Brawl and ass-whuppin'. Really? Plus the Autobots are outnumbered.

You know, it's funny. You're asking questions that can only be answered with major spoilers, yet you ask that we answer without spoiling too much. Am I missing something here?

Its the idea of the underdog overcoming superior forces. You will just have to see the movie to know the HOW.

I'm just trying to avoid specifics. I had hoped that there might be a vague answer available, like "the Autobots are more organized than the Decepticons" or "the Autobots work better as a team" or somesuch.

I was just saying I didn't want anything like "...and then Jazz does a forward somersault and says..." ie: no specifics.

But if there is no general answer then c'est la vie.

Well from what I've heard Jazz does a forward somesault with a double dismount and a triple overhead salko and then says "`Sup". And the Cons all fall over

Blackout is the biggest robot in the entire movie, and that wasn't Jazz sqeaking, it's the sound Megs makes when he transforms. (The same sound is heard when he lands on the road after TFing.)

Perhaps (I haven't seen the clip where Megs TF's)....

But I prefer the "squeek" sound to be Jazz's version of "oh damn" before he gets punted off the tower.

Actually, Prime is a bit taller then both Bonecrusher and Brawl, who are the same size as each other who are only slightly taller then Ironhide and Ratchet. Jazz is about half the height of Megs, who's second tallest behind Blackout. According to the leaked numbers a few months back anyway. Anyways, from how the prequel comics portrayed the cons and how the novel described their relationships, it seems that the cons don't play well together while the 'bots use that good ol fashioned teamwork to get the job done.

Of course, as 9.8m/s^2 said, a little energon and a lot of luck couldn't hurt either.

    Cause they're f***en Autobots! *high-five!*

Actually, it wont be easy for the Autobots, but they're outnumbered and outgunned. They're going to have to play smart and fight in battles of their terms, which will be hard sense the battleground is not theirs and they are concerned about collateral.

Autobots are going to have to focus on outmaneuvering the Decpticons and avoid hitting them en'mass.

In the end, even if the Autobots are outnumbered, they still have the six billion humans on their side that the Decepticons view as "insects."

Six billion insects, no matter how small, is still a lot of freaking bugs.
