So I'm safe to assume this guy wouldn't be impressed by Transformers then?

I hope you are not stating it as a fact but your own opinion.

Not everyone thinks the way you do. In fact you may the minority on this.

What a fucking prick(Simon). How does Star Wars keep kids stupid? "Miserable characterization", "For children or child-like adults, not for adult mentalities", "3 lousy actors in the main roles", "You can't relate to the characters", "Terrible plotting?" Darth Vader turning out to be Luke's father was an awesome twist, Hamill and the rest had great acting and you can relate to the characters' emotions clearly. Imagine if they decided to go with Simon and say that special effects looked too fake, they were probably great for the time and if effects were cut back then and hadn't evolved from then to today, we probably wouldn't have 60% of the movies we have today.

Thanks for posting this, great stuff. Don't think I've ever heard a movie described as a "whirly gig" before. Quite priceless. Siskel and Ebert have always represented what movie reveiwers should be, realistic critics. When I watch their reveiws I could always tell wether or not I would enjoy a film wether they liked it or not. That other reveiwer who has no children is an example of a reveiwer that tells you what you should like instead of letting you decide for yourself.
I love the Star Wars universe and the movies provide me with great enjoyment.
Bay's Transformers movie was very entertaining as well, though I still think I prefer the 1986 animated film to the newbie. Were there holes in the new Transformers movie, sure, but it was still a lot of fun and I think thats why most people go to the movies-TO HAVE FUN. I personally can't wait for the sequels. I'd love to hear that dudes reveiw for Transformers but I'm guessing he died of boredum while watching Tender Mercies....................

Always remember kiddies: It's AWESOME to feel complete hatred for things that are popular and find retarded reasons to derail them!

    Imagine this:
    It's 1983 and you are a kid.
Everyone in your grade is super excited about Return of the Jedi.
Your parents take you to the movies.
You walk in the theater and on the screen comes Tender Mercies.

I cry for those poor children.

Sometimes I mean all the time kids weren't going to see movies to learn but to be entertained. Most of the time in school, the teacher asks "what is the lesson of this book/movie?" they dont know or do but dont give a shit. I'm 20 years old and am not looking for movies all the time to tell me something. Do I learn anything from Robot Chicken? No, I watch it cause it's entertaining. Now I get things outta some of the things I watch.

Star Wars is entertaining, yeah you can get something outta it somewhat but not too much. You don't want to, otherwise you can't enjoy the film.

    Star Wars did teach kids...
Run-away fathers are bad bad people
    Politics
Old people can be very senile
and black people CAN own their own enterprise

I just googled up Space Hunters: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone shot in 3D and I have seen it. It wasn't that bad, not real good but not bad.

Oh well, the original trilogy has lived on as some of the most beloved films of the last three decades so all his bitching overall amount to shit eh

I probably saw the 3d movie when I was a kid, wouldn't really doubt it, I watched every single sci-fi adventure-ish thing I could get my hands on
