Siran is a good guy and i am sorry that this happened. The E911 system here sucks, but it should have been better than this.

at first it sounds pretty outlandish but once you read it maybe it's legit, how long does it take to travel 7 miles on that highway?

Those roads are not ever that crowded, so a rapid response was not only probable, it was highly likely. I have traveled them all my life, there was time.

Faxon, i would sue E911. in a heartbeat. the money wouldn't matter nearly as much as getting it on the record they passed the buck and ignored the public they serve.
Someone would lose their job over this.

He lost four of his kids; only he and his little girl survived, and she nearly died.

I saw him speak earlier this year at a Chamber of Commerce event, and it was heartbreaking. He is a great speaker, but you can't help but grieve for him and what he went through.

When you live around here in the south, it's common knowledge that the good old boy system rules and most public services that your tax dollars pay for are a joke.

Don't mistake my comment for heartlessness. I sympathise with him for losing his family, but 911 is there purely to help people. And they're only human, so one in a million things like this are going to sliup through the net.

It also sets a dangerous precident if he wins, with 911 then becoming reluctant to act in a way they think apt, for fear of lawsuits like this. Or they end up responding to everything, stretching their resources and getting flak for attending frivilous emergencies.

    I'd feel terrible.

But feelings shouldn't dictate the need for litigation.

    No, but negligence sure does.

Apparently there are some people out there who think that in America the police (and by extension 911) can never be wrong.

They can do wrong, after all they are only human. But the fear of being sued like this will probably comprimise the performance of that particular 911 dispatch centre.

For years we have had pretty good service from them.
But knowing who they passed the call to, and knowing how Dothan P.D. does things, Dothan, IMO was in a better position to react to this.

There's debate down here whether or not this was avoidable.
well, to a point that argument is irrelevant.
What remains is that HAD DPD or the HC sheriffs been sent, it could have been avoided.

And it is not uncommon for agencies to send cruisers outside jurisdiction to assist other municipalities/county agencies.
so it wasn't a stretch to believe it could have been done here.
