Comicnewsi.com posted an interview with Simon Furman on April 19th.

In it he talks little bits and pieces about what's planned for the IDW series as well as the UK Transformers series he's working on

I sure as hell can. as soon as Grimlock is brought into the story, he's not going to go away. He'll become the main character until the end of the series. "Furman" and "Grimlock" in the same sentence always fill me with dread.

I wish they would ban him from using the character, so he would focus on someone else. I HATE his version of the Grimlock character.

I'm still positive that if the DW Energon series hadnt ended so soon, the thing would have ended with Grimlock and Unicron in a fist fight.

Because Energon Grimlock was actually "G1" Grimlock who Primus brought to the Energon universe to combat Unicron in a final match for the sake of the universe. Of course the first thing Grimlock would have done in the E. universe is smack E. Prime around a bit and make him his bitch. Brilliant!

EDIT: I see Screamer, and Sunstorm is there too, in the Galvatron cover and what looks like his pretender shell right in front of him. There's a bunch of sharkticons and maybe Thundercracker getting his head lopped off in the back, but I can not make out anyone else on that cover.

Good. Sideswipe is the man. I'd love to see a Spotlight on him, maybe with his egomaniacal brother.

Sidenote: I wish DW hadn't folded. I'd have loved to see how they planned to pull Sunstreaker off as gay.

I'd always love to explore how everything in the IDW universe (infiltration/escalation/devastation/spotlight/stormbringer) is inter-related, you can't miss any details!

The Galvatron/Megatron relationship sounds good. I'm tired of the perpetual upgrade from M to G. Very excited for these comics.

    SO TRUE!!
The worse part of the 86 movie for me.
It's like we were always denied seeing Megs unleash his full potential. Kills Optimus Prime then gets the Spock upgrade...:throw

hehe, thats funny. But reallu Furman is coming into his own with his G1-verse, and I'm really glad we as a fandom have someone like him.

    Wow. I couldn't disagree more.

Well, I probably could, but meh...

Seriously, the ruthless commander-Grimlock from the comics is far, far more interesting than the knuckle-headed buffoon-Grimlock from the cartoon, by a wide margin. In my humble opinion, at least.

We've known that for a while, certainly since his last CBR interview.

And Stormbreaker was included in the "ongoing" numbering (Infiltration, Stormbringer, Escalation, Devastation, Revelation). Not to mention Beast Wars, Megatron Origin/Precursor and the movie stuff...

I dont have a problem with his personality, but I take issue with always him being the focal point of every single story Simon writes, always the hero.

I'd compare it to how damn obsessed Marvel gets with Wolverine from time to time, to the point that they'll stick him in stories he has no right being in, and giving every other character the shaft in order to focus on him.

Oh, ok. That makes more sense.

But then, I feel that way when I see the Movie-era characters (with the exception of Ultra Magnus) all too easily kicked to the kerb by newer G1-derived story arcs...

    Um...
    what?
    Totally agree.
I was skeptical at first, but I love this stuff now.

I think it is genius to have the Spotlights be self contained stories that also have an impact on the main story arc.

I'd love to see the IDW verse animated or made into a videogame.

So which Grimlock do you like then?

The slow and stupid Grimlock from season 2 of the original cartoon?

The dumb and moronic neutered Grimlock from season three?

Or Budiansky's jerktastic King Grimlock from the Marvel comic?

    Its true.
