I say Simon Furman should get hired to either write the next films completely or have a big hand in writing them at least. I mean, he has ALOT of experience with Transformers. He writes good comics and I'm sure he could write some strong, cohesive plots for the future movies. So, what do you think?

Fuck yes. We'd finally get someone who actually knows how to write a quality TF tale.

LOL @ everyone who voted 'bad idea'. Enjoy your toilet humor and poor robot characterization.

You people are crazy. Simon would at least get us close to having a TF movie with real TF characters instead of name slaps due to color or alt mode.

On a leash and with someone like Spielberg to remind him of the need to inject humor etc etc.

If you don't wanna give Furman a chance after Orci/Kurtzman/Kruger gave us little meat in the TF areas, you must not really like TF fiction. He's the Peter Cullen of TF writers IMHO, and I think many facts back this up.

Have him outline a plot, then give the actual writing duties to someone who can write dialogue.

Yeah, have Simon plot an over-arching storyline for the next trilogy. I'd be 100% behind that approach.

But I'd probably bring in another writer to punch up the dialogue.

I'd say have him outline the trilogy, but leave the dialogue to someone else.

This. And make a rule that he can't spam Grimlock.

There's a huge gap in your logic. So huge that calling it logic is insulting to logic.

Just because the potential new movie isn't written by Furman, doesn't mean it's written with potty humor all over it.

You want poor characterization, you read a Furman story.

Furman is crap. His time has long gone. He writes nothing new, Grimlock would steal the show, and we'd have more Prime as Jesus, Primus as God and Unicron as Satan junk he saturated the TFs with in the past.

It'd still be a sight better than what we've got to date. And I'm totally fine with everything he does.

Pick a comic book writer to work as a movie writer is a bad strategy, for the most awesome good and ol' Furman is, Comic Book writers are NOT scriptwriter, and there's one hellish difference, and that difference screws up everything [Example: Geoff Johns, awesome Comic Book writer, contributed to the story of that bloody mess that was the Green Lantern movie].

He should be creative consultant, now THAT would work smoothly, but hope that one comic book writer will handle the task of writing a script is a fool's errand.
