Simon Furman has posted some new information on IDW's Beast Wars - The Ascending on his blog.

Lots of little hints at what we can look forward to in the new mini.

    - more Cybertron than we saw in The Gathering, we're going to get a feel for how the planet really works in the Beast era.

    - more on what's going on with Razorbeast and Ravage on Earth, as well as Magmatron's fate.

    - The Ascending will have more than an occasional nod to the Japanese shows and characters.

    - Profile Books are done, co-written by Ben Yee of bwtf.com, they cover everything from the US shows, Japanese shows, and even store (and convention?) exclusives.

    - Both series are four issue minis, due out around August or September.

    - Don is doing the art for The Ascending.

Looking forward to this. Too bad the show can't continue as well.

BW was just so solid by itself it's hard for me to get into other stories set concurrently on Earth.

I wish the cartoon had left more room open for multiple units across the planet, but the 'lost and alone' feeling was part of what made it great.

I'm looking forward to these, however what I liked most about Beast Wars was the small cast of well developed characters. It will be nice to have a profile book for all the show and non-show characters, I really enjoyed 'The Gathering' and I look forward to 'The Ascending' but I find it very hard to accept these books as an extension of the BW/BM mythology.

    I keep hoping they'll gear up to a post BM/ G1 crossover
Though I'd love a lost tales of Beast Wars mini series with the cast of the show.

Hmmm, makes me wonder if the Mcdonalds toys like the Manta-Ray will be in the profile books. Those were pretty much my BW toys during the day, them and TM2 Dinobot.

Great news! Cant wait to get these. The first Mini was great because you got to see the other charicters but during the same time.

I wonder also if Simon will explain how in 300 years the Autobot/Decepticon war is over and the factions of Maximals and Predacons show up.

They will-- Ben Yee told me so at least years' Botcon. At least, unless plans have changed since then.

I could love it if it doesn't negate Beast Machines, and I could hate it if it does.

I wasn't wowed by the previous mini-series, but here's to hoping this is much better. Seeing more of Beast Wars era Cybertron does sound alluring. I'm hoping this "ultimate fate of Cybertron" is the Vehicon coup.

I really enjoyed The Gathering, a nice punt at a self contained story set against a well established backdrop. I'm up for more...

I love Profile-type books. I'm currently trying to complete my Dreamwave MTMTE collection, love Official Hanbook of the Marvel Universe, and all the rest. There's more materials in one of those books than in a year's worth of other books. I don't buy most other Beast stuff (just got finished watching Beast Wars season 1 through Blockbuster online), but I'll be buying these.

Sounds like a good deal. I pray they retcon Beast Machines, though. Simon's an okay guy, though. And I know he wouldn't fuck around like that.

....I better get some Bantor action, though.
