Went Buzzing around DeviantART.com (which directly lead me to a Silent Hill 5 fan site) and two persons -- notably xanseviera --- have noticed a freaky resemblance between the character Alex Shepard and Dean Winchester of Supernatural fame, physical and storyline wise (though the storyline parallels is stretching it a bit). I honestly thought it was a piece of Impressive Fanart but then went to the Silent Hill 5 fansite and discovered it was a concept art for the Alex Shepherd.

It's a spot on resemblance, but I don't watch Supernatural.
    Maybe I should.

Not too surprising when you think about it. The Silent Hill team are all huge fans of American supernatural thrillers and the like. It's not a stretch to think they might be fans of the show.

They do look pretty similar, but Alex looks older, has more hair, and has a much more prominent brow and cheekbones. It could still be a deliberate resemblance though.

That's true. I remember reading the Silent Hill 5 article in Electronic Gaming Monthly, and noticed Arika Yamaoka statiing that the series was a Japanese take on an American Horror and "Suddenly [with SH5] its an American take on a Japanese-filter American Horror". The irony of it all. Wasn't this series initally based on Jacob's Ladder or something?
