Yamaoka is best known primarily for his work on the characteristic soundscapes of Konami's Silent Hill series,
including the recent "Silent Hill: Shattered Memories."
In fact, the man has composed the soundtrack for every game in the series
(with the exception of the GBA spinoff, Silent Hill Play Novel).
He has also served as a producer on the series since Silent Hill 3

Oh god, first Nobuo Uematsu leaves Square and now Akira Yamaoka leaves Konami. Yeah the Silent Hill franchise is pretty much dead. Damn it, why is there a shortage of survival horrors in this generation of console gaming.

That's ok, the new Silent Hill is supposed to be pretty badass, so at least it's ending on a good note, and pretty much where the story all started.

I've heard positive and negative things about it actually. I will play it though.

While I agree with everyone that a the soundtracks to Silent Hill have kept the mood of the games good no matter where the story went, it isn't impossible for future releases to still have Akira Y. They could always contract Akira for a game. Afterall, not every game company keeps a fulltime musician for their games.

yeah that's true...but i have doubts Konami would do that :(
well we will just have to wait and see how it goes...

but in my opinion..When Akira left Konami, Silent Hill went with him.

Pretty much, especially since Homecoming was already such an abomination.... Wait, an abomination of a game about abominations.... should work, but didn't.

My only bummer is that we never saw a true next gen Silent Hill, to see what next gen graphics would have really done to pyramid head and his band of slutty mannequins.

Holy crap, listening to the soundtrack now. There's a Silent Hill-esch rendition of "Always on my mind". It's all demented and shit. Awesome!

I found it the naughty way, but I have no guilt, as I will be buying this game soon, and the Wii version, now that I have the music. Flipping between this and the Avatar score, which is also great.

Devil's Laughter borders on scaring me, and I'm at work.

I own every silent hill, including the BluRay movie and that PSP SH Experience, and I've gotten them all legally. This one won't hurt anyone, especially if I plan to get the game with my Xmas money :D
