How did you get it off? I am using 91% isopropyl and a qtip and it doesn't work.

Yeah this is my experience too. Its not like dipping the qtip and rubbing the silver spots and its gone. It takes some time and qtips. Also certain areas the paint seems to stick better. Megatron and Sideswipe were pretty easy but Prime especially his thighs took ages.

I found out about this the hard way and nearly ruined my full tilt. Never use nail varnish. It will remove paint but also melt the plastic

Hey, a bit of a question with your experience with removing the paint from Sideswipe. Sideswipe’s feet look like they were painted silver and then given a little black paint to make the weathering, so I was wondering if you able to just use the q-tips and alcohol on his feet without removing what I think is paint. Are the silver feet just paint, or was it plastic?

I didn't remove it from his feet. It's indeed silver paint with battle damage paint on top. Quite a lot is painted on Sideswipe. The red is paint too . So be careful when removing paint from the legs. The red comes off much easier than the silver damage paint. Im thinking of removing the paint from his feet and then repaint it. If anyone out here knkws of a better way im open for suggestions

I was able to strip the battle damage off Sideswipe's feet without taking the silver paint off. Just use a light touch, the black paint at least for me rubbed off pretty quickly without taking the silver with it using alcohol and a cloth

Added a pic of Sideswipe. Repainted the feet. Thinking of painting his arms, thighs and feet actual white along with the gun.

Looking excellent! What kind of Silverpaint did you use on his feet?

Do you mean nail VARNISH, or nail varnish REMOVER?

Prime still looks cybertronian. I personally love his truck mode design.

How did you mount Megatron's cannon on his back? Looks lower than normal.

    91% works a lot better than 70%!

Bah! I've been using 91% for a while now, on various projects. The silver came off of Megatron in a few hours, but I've had Optimus soaking for DAYS and the silver won't come off. I wonder what's up with that?

A soak won't do it, you have to scrub it with something. I used a q-tip and just kept going.

I use an old toothbrush. A toothpick might also work for hard to reach places.

Been working on my Megatron too. I took as much as I could apart and soaked where I could. The shins are so far the toughest and where the paint was is a sort of flat ghost image where the plastic is a tad flat in tone. Not very visible unless the light hits it just right. I've got some ideas on how to take it out though.

I used a 99.9% pure alcohol though. You can buy it online or at an electronics store as it's used for electronics applications. No damage to plastic and it eats the paint real fast. Had most of this figure cleaned up in an hour or two.
