There doesn’t seem to be any issues from what i can tell with the hole and conector piece

Don't have the figure yet but it looks like the wheels aren't tucked completely away. I'm guessing there are a few things you have to sort out before the outer panels fall in place.

Anyway, it does seem like it's the wheels holding it open. They collapse the entire way flush against the torso.

To much bird poop on him and it's in the way.
Clean it first and it will close just fine. :)

The wheels don’t have anything to do with it, they were all the way in originally and it still wouldn’t close it was like this from box

Check to see if there's any flash at the side where the pin goes through.
If not, the pin could be driven off center, or the hinge is warped.

It may be off center it looks like the pin was not put in the center of the hole

It sucks for those who ordered online and got their optimus primes with these issues since the toy is excellent. What i would suggest is just go get him at a store if you can, i went to toys r us here in canada and they had about 20 copies so i lucky and got to choose one that had the chest properly closed but i did notice a few that had the chest issue. Sucks since besides this little issue with some of them the toy is awesome and is a must have for anyone that loves transformers.

it's common. mine is the same. although the gap isnt as prominent on mine, I can live with it. yall nailed it right on the head. if that pin is not centered properly, it throws off the alignment.

Sorry to hear I'm not the only one with this issue.

Did taking out the pin impact anything? Does the door fall out or is there something else keeping it in place?

What a waste. Something so minor or easily fixed and your first instinct is throw it away instead of return it or look for a fix?

Mine has the same problem too, but out of the ones on the shelf, the one I bought had the least paint errors. Where can I find a tool to push the pin out?

And NO, the weathering/battle damage are NOT painting errors!
