Dino was just badass, I loved his laughing when he hooked onto Hatchet.

 

They're badasses..and..that's pretty much why people like them [Dino/Mirage was pretty much Sideswipe with an italian accent, yet he is one of people's favorite characters].

The movie-verse fanbase has an obsession for badasses for some reason [I'm a member of the movie-verse fanbase too, should be noticed, but I don't share that particular trait with my comrades].

That and the fact they are cooler than Bumblebee whose a overrated cash cow mascot.

Bumblebee is clearly designed to have a cute-factor.

Both the Sideswipe & Dino designs simply don't have that.

 

I must admit they are pretty badass, Sideswipe being my #2 favorite bot in the movie trilogy (Optimus being my #1 fav, I mean come on you can't top Optimus Prime out   ), but it seem to me in any kind of show/movie they're are always going to be characters like, Sideswipe and Mirage/Dino that will just have that awesome design with little background story and is ever bodys fan favorite

Key-word is "obsession": I adore badass characters, but people around here have the trait of ONLY liking badass characters [or funny ones] and if a character is badass, regardless of being original or not, is by default, awesome.

 

Hmm, I don't feel I'm "obsessed" with "badass" characters, though to be honest, "badass" nowadays is essentially another way to say "awesome" or "cool".

So then what really defines "badass"?

(Note, this isn't a smartass comment like I usually make, I'm actually being serious in this pondering.)

 

I'm saying the movie-verse fanbase in GENERAL, not everyone is like that [hell, I'm a member of the movie-verse fanbase as I mentioned earlier, I like Sideswipe and Dino too].

The standard definition is a tough-as-nails character skilled in battle who likes catchphrases.

 

Sideswipe became my favorite, not because he's a badass, but because he is my favorite Transformer's student.

And as for Dino, not so much his badassness, but I just loved his "He's in a bad mood today".

And I love both Transformers voices!

Honestly, Bumblebee's got it pretty made right now. He has stealth mode, which is awesome- and most of the damage caused in the freeway fight was because of that (Sideswipe didn't do much). He has the arm cannon, which everyone knows only comes out in badass situations. He didn't even pop it for Rampage, he just kicked major ass in that scene. Also, he has the rarely used shoulder rocket launchers, which are often overlooked but still a pretty unique
trait- in anything, only Roadbuster can compete with him on that- and Roadbuster's signature weapons [should be] the chainsaws. Bumblebee is even more badass that either Sideswipe or Mirage- Sideswipe had trouble with the Dreads and BB wrecked Soundwave, he always gets the cool victories, and yellow is such a popping color. They don't have to change a thing to keep him "better" than them- they're background ass-kickers, doing one or two cool things (maybe having a scene or two) and that's all- Bumblebee will always have his greater share of epicness.
