if you send me a pm with some pictures, Maybe I can see what is wrong and help you? it should not be hard to fix? I ordered a new one.. so that would be the one that gets a new makeover. the part that broke is the pin-holder where half of his chest that holds his Left arm pivots that part is now stuck in his chest part with the metal pin, If I can find a way to get it out, I could possibly use a Dremel and epoxy a new piece.. I might try that one day. Or ill glue it into place and have it as a static Robot or car on display. Auch! 3 crosshairs? what happened there? I have one in my spare bin if you need one.. It is indeed on a screw and I could use the part of the other Stinger. but I think since those parts need to be sprayed as well and this is a metallic paint, I would rather just paint the whole new car so the spraypattern matches all over the car. (sometimes with metallic you can see a little of the direction the painter used, That would look wrong to me since I am a perfectionist)
lol IIRC I tried to strip all the paint off one with alcohol which went fine until I got to the clear plastic. I broke another trying to find a way to cut the rear bumper and window in a way they could compress more. And with the last one, the windshield hinge broke and I might have ruined the waist on him trying to add a waist joint, but that might have been another one. Eventually I just settled for minor paint touch-ups on the fourth. Learned a few lessons there. I get what you mean with the paint, but I would just strip the paint again and keep redoing it until it blends well. If you want to do him over though that's fine, you're just more persistent than me, that Huayra mode really is worth it.
haha leasons learned.. I have some frankenbots to.. maybe time to clear the dungeon.. ;-) The Huayra really is worth it.. awesome car! and I love Stinger! he was cool (except for his transformation as with Galvatron) but what a car!
Stinger will be here tonight.. I might just replace the nose and keep all the other parts.. he looks so stunning in his new colors!
So.. my new Stinger came and I took him appart. Fun to see the colour and the shine on the custom next to the original. I decided to just redo the new hood and save time on sanding, taping, polishing and so on. In between coats I also took time to detail the legs and arms with Silver, Titanium, Gold, Coper and Blue (the waterhoses I have seen on Stinger are blue) He is now 70% complete! lets hope he stays in one piece! here is what I ended up with after some hours of work on the little guy..
HOLY CRAP! He is kinda finished.. I just put him together and detailed some parts on his chest.. Granted, he still needs a polish and I need to paint his wing-stands but I am glad he stayed together as he should! I will wait a full week before I do anything on his paintjob (other than removing some blemishes but he cleans up good! here are some desired robot pictures of Stinger! Last picture shows where I went over the lines on his chest, I will clean that off once he is ready for a sanding and a polish. for now I actually think he is better than Bumblebee.... Untill I get the Beetle Hmmm... A movie AOE Bumblebee from that other Stinger... Bee used the same altmode right?
Very beautiful work. Can't wait til it's finished. Bee had same bot mode but was always a camaro. Never adopted the Pagani skin
Thank you, I am Happy how he turned out. I know Bumblebee always was a Camaro, but he copied Stinger for his new robot mode in AOE so that is why I think about doing a Bee-custom
Today was polishing time so I put him back in vehicle mode and did some of my magic on him.. from Grid 2000 to 3500 scratch remover, polish fine polish and ofcourse Wax... He will be in the sunlight tomorow but for now.. He is becomming awesome.. Bee be Ware!
Impressive! That is a smooth paint job on that alt mode, it looks nearly seamless. Now I don't even like my stock figure with its flat red. I guess I'll have to bust out the paints!
I took him outside today to show how smooth he really is.. he is awesome! I would highly recomend Tamiya spraypaint for the job.. put it on him in 3-4 thin coats (first one barely covering him) and take your time masking.. I have seen the biggest mistakes made there. Here is Stinger in daylight: So.. how do you guys like Stinger?
Does applying a clear coat on Stinger prevent fingerprints from forming on the figure? I know the Tamiya paint sometimes allows fingerprints to form on the figure
