There is silver under it, but there's no guarantees that you won't take some of that off as well.

Yeah, you might take the silver with it. Be careful or see if you can get the Japanese one for cheap.

Yeah, I have the Autobot Alliance version from Japan. All silver paint, and blue windows. Looks really slick. If you can get one, I'd suggest it.

Red is thicker than the Silver. Once you get through the Red,you'll be through the Silver in short order.

I'd suggest an airbrush and a couple of thin coats of Tamiya Silver Chrome instead : P

I've been wondering the same. I really like his look, but I hate the red, and I really don't have the money to buy the Takara version.

They have one up on Amazon for like $35 or something.

And where did you even see a Japanese one locally? lol

    ^ Probably about USD $36.

We used to get the Japanese imports at much lower pricing but that is now history.

Many of the toy/specialty shops don't even bring in much of the TakaTom Movie stuffs these days for fear that they might get stuck with those for eternity. :lol

Just a matter of taste, but I have to say I have both and while Takaras is almost certainly the most screen accurate version we've yet seen and may ever see, I actually like the way the US one looks just slightly better.

    I LOVE both though.

In a loosely related thing, I discovered the coolest thing about him tonight-

The directions tell you to leave his foot wheels facing out. I knew you could reverse them to face in. I wasn't positive if I liked that or preferred them out like the directions say.

BUT- the balance peg which acts as his heel when wheels are out can actually fold up almost completely out of sight. If you turn the wheels in and do this then from many angles you really don't see the pegs and it actually looks like he is just standing on his wheels!!!

The toy is remarkably well balanced this way (yes it COULD fall over, but I can shake the table and it doesn't). Looking at the combination of the folded in peg and the wheels in I strongly suspect the designers intended the toy to be this way and the extra front peg was an allowance for child play.

Sidearm Sideswipe just got much cooler (and he was already one of my all time favorite movie deluxes).

But how could this be more screen accurate when Sideswipe was never a gun slinger in the movie? :lol

My memory of him was that of a sword wielder...

He was using the pistols in the desert scenes, when he spots Sam.
It's really obvious, but to be honest: my mind didn't register what was happening the first time I watched it because it was numb by all the random shooting in that part of the movie :lol

    It's definitely accurate.

I used a silver paint on my Sidearm Sideswipe. Got rid of the red and painted the rims.

It's not perfect by all means but it does the job.. I'll probably throw another coat of paint on it... but for the mean time it will do for me..

    Check it out..

I quite like the mold as well. I'm not a big fan of the movie aesthetics but this figure got me to buy it. I used it for my custom (see the sig) and it turned out quite good. I liked the red front as well.

Do you normally get the Hasbro releases in Singapore?
