Hey all, just completed my second custom
    It's Shrapnel from Movie Wreckage
I'm a lot happier with the way this one came out as opposed to my previous Devcon. Took a bit more time and didn't rush it. I really like the outcome. All comments welcome

look forward to bombshell coming soon

Not sure what I think of it. The paint is well applied. I really like the purple. I think gold would have looked nice.

The mold itself just doesn't say Shrapnel.

    thank you very very much

i thank you truly for the compliments
the mold was chosen because to me, of all the movie molds this one screamed Shrapnel to me the most. I'm a huge fan of the insecticons, and though they will not resemble their G1 selves in the sense of being insects, I'm upgrading them as though they were in the 2007 movie. I chose this mold mostly for the blades reminding me of the antennas coming off of Shrapnel's back.
I'm currently (sitting in front of me, in pieces) working on Bombshell - he will be Stockade and of course the best mold for Kickback is Dropkick IMHO.
as for the gold comment, I agree with you. the base coat is yellow, but there is both gold and copper dusted (drybrushed) onto the carapace of Shrapnel. The pictures don't pick it up very well, but it does look rather good in person.

I think it looks nice, but I would've given him a faceplate.

i'm basing the color scheme off of insecticons 2 from iacon city
and i strongly considered a different head ... but after checking all of my collection found none that really fit.
upon further inspection of the already fitted head, i decided i liked it.

The paint job is nice, and I can definitely see the Insecticon vibe goin on. I just wish that there was a way to get those things on his arms, to move to his head. Then it would have even more of a Shrapnel vibe. I don't have Wreckage, so I don't know how feasible that would be though.

i've checked it out thoroughly and would love to do it.
but unless i do some modding, which i'm not really sure of how to do it, it's probably going to stay the way it is for the time being at least.

If you do two things, you can change this from shrapnel to kickback. Make the blades shoulder mounted (in the same Kickback direction), and add antennas to his head.

    Something to consider perhaps.

although that could very well work, i really prefer him as shrapnel, plus i've already got a mold ready for kickback.

I think he's saying that because without a faceplate, the head just doesn't look like shrapnel. The body is great, but the head doesnt match. Either slap a mouthplate via putty or styrene, or do a head-swap with another deluxe.

Actually I'm saying it because I think the blades would work pretty well for Kickback, and the antennas make him easily definable. But since he has a plan for Kickback, it's a moot point.

Doesn't Shrapnel have a standard mouth? Are you thinking of Bombshell?

bombshell is the only one with a faceplate
    kickback and shrapnel have mouths

i can see why you would think this would look good as kickback - the weapons would make great for the wings coming off of his shoulders. but i like him as shrapnel.
i always saw the stag antlers on shrapnel as weapons - in this they're actually useful though
the mold itself seems very warlike and fits the name perfectly. i don't mean to discourage anyone from making comments but i am happy with the mold, name, character, and head used to create SHRAPNEL

bombshell is in the works as we speak - i'm using movie stockade - he has a faceplate already. as for kickback, it's already been done, but i'm using dropkick - the legs, antennas and overall insect-like feel of it screams kickback to me.
