Well, being a Sci-fi fan, I was intending on checking out Cowboy Bebop (I've heard plenty of good things about it, just never really watched it), Teknoman (I have Tekkaman Blade...Will that suffice?), and GitS, based on Gordon's recommendations.
Only real things i watch are: Fairly Legal, Franklin and Bash, Burn Notice, Archer, White Collar, Storage Wars, Pawn Stars, Royal Pains, Criminal Minds, Common Law, Futurama, South Park, Community, Big Bang Theory, Young Justice, Avengers: EMH, and maybe a few others. USA is the only great network anymore... I don't have premium cable, but I watch via net are TF: prime, MLP: FiM, and Dexter.
HGTV has Mike Holmes, and is therefore good, for at least a few hours a week. I'll say Transformers Prime. Felt too "monster of the week" when I was trying to watch it. It was still better than GI Joe Renegades, though.
Another one that you might want to take a look at if Sci-Fi is your taste is Ergo Proxy. It's got a lot of the hallmarks of a classic Asimov and Co, with a large robot population on the verge of self-awareness, a bleak, dystopian society, murder and mystery, and lots of existential musing. Can get really head-trippy at times, but it's quite rewarding. And then if you don't mind "looser" sci-fi (as in, lots of technobabble to justify, but the visuals push the limits of believability), then I'd really recommend Eureka seveN, which is pure joy, from its warm and quirky characters, jaw-dropping visuals, heartfelt story, and one of the best Anime soundtracks ever. Kinda straying from the topic, though... maybe further discussion should be moved to the big Anime thread.
I don't like Adventure Time, but I won't go around spouting about how I despise the show. Although it did give me one of my favorite TF2 videos. Anyone who says the despise Mystery Science Theater 3000 should be prepared to go overboard on a ocean liner tied to a Indiana-Jones boulder.
Any sell/pawn shows If its on disney Chanel I hate it Most reality shows Any show that starts with "the real housewives of..." Kardashian or how ever the f@ck you spell there name Most of nicks line up And since we're on tv f@ck you directv or Viacom or whoevers to blame for that
Ergo Proxy is a little more niche I think. If you can handle the slow pacing and intentional dullness you're ok (think Blade Runner I guess). I'm not sure about Eureka Seven. Nice character designs but the actual characters themselves didn't really impress me for the most part. The little kids were easily the worst, most horrendous aspect of the show. Anyways, to keep on topic, I guess the shows I can't stand are pointless ones like Cash Cab, Worst Driver, Handyman, etc.
Big Bang Theory isn't total crap. I love Sheldon and Howard. They're worth watching for. Two and a Half Men got rid of its best character Charlie Sheen and therefore sucks now. Mike and Molly is really underated and the acting is great espicially from Mellissa McCarthy and Reno Wilson.
One show I don't get the love for is Modern Family. I'd see promos for it all the time. Not one thing looked remotely funny with it. It was tired hack jokes. The fact it gets Emmy nominations out the ass baffles me. A unique show like community that dares to do different all the time... Nothing. Proves Emmys are worthless in my book.
Woah, lot of people don't like Big Bang Theory? Huh, I love that show, although I do despise Howard - Fred: The show and Annoying Orange: I'm angry enough that I can actually refer to them as TV shows - X-Factor/Britain's got talent/any reality show/anything that has Simon Cowell in it, even for a split second - Two and a half men - Celebrity Juice - Any soap "drama" - Johnny Test - Teen Ben 10 - Come Dine With Me Australia - The only way is Essex/Made in Chelsea/Geordie shore/ all that sort of crap - Any Top Gear that isn't the original
I love that show. It just has a delightful cast of charecters. I watch the shows not because of writing but for charecters.
Its actually funny how a talented set of actors can turn what would otherwise be dross into something fun. Case in point, My Family, a British series that was past its sell by date in season 4. Robert Lindsay (Ben, the dad) and Zoe Wanamaker (Susan, the mother) have a fantastic chemistry as a loving but viritolic couple. I think with anyone else the show would have failed by season 1's end.
My Family died the second Nick left (he was so awesome) the other 2 kids were awful Oh, speaking of British sitcoms: -2 pints of Lager and a Packet of crisps........Argh. -And Roger and Val have just got in, it's advertised as a sitcom, but it puts me to sleep everytime -Episodes, Matt Le Blanc is excellent, but everything else is terrible, especially Tamsin Greig, who just whines all the damn time -Not going out. I like Lee Mack in stand up and panel shows, but I just find this show deeply irrtating
I liked them all, sort of, but thats because the three of them worked best by bouncing off one another. Luckily as I say, Ben and Susan are hardly not funny.
