Lets see your Chogokin figures! Be they SOC, MF, Aoshima all Chogokin Robots are welcome. I'll start with Max Factory Godannar.

I'll take a better pic later but this figure is alot of fun Lots of articulation and decent about of diecast. Speaking of which you need to be carful when posing its real easy to scratch some of the paint off.

Sweet Zombie Jesus Forever Convoy! That is some serious Chogokin there. I'll try and post up some pictures of my own paultry collection tomorrow (consisting entirely of the SOC Eva 01 and the Kado Senshi Hyaku Shiki).

Japanese figures with a lot of diecast metal. Usually, at least 50% metal. A lot of Bandai's "Soul of Chogokin" figures are as much as 90% metal, with the exception being the accessories, hands (so that the fingers can be flexed to grip the accessories), and extraneous antennae, etc.

to work of off what mx said, the actual word 'chogokin' is not an actual word or metal but rather a fictional word first created by Mazinger Z creator Go Nagai, the term chogokin actually means zinc alloy (according to Nagai) thus the high degree of metal content in all of the SOC's (minus Xabungle).

you will also see it refered to as occasionally as "soul of iron"

it was only appropriate that the very first SOC released was Mazinger Z itself.

    hoped that helped.

anyone correct me if i am wrong

Cool pixs! Unfortunately, I have started selling off my collection due to the lack of space...but how I wish Bandai would produce a chogokin Gundam...particularly the UC0079 series. I would buy them all in a heart-beat!

    Beautiful figures!

When I was little the new line of metal toys came out. They were heavier than anything we had before, not platic, not tin...they were Chogokin! (direct translation is "super alloy".)

We kids all went crazy, I was lucky enough that my parents got me quite a few. Like Mazinger, Getter Robo.
The word is very special to any Japanese boys who had their childhood in the 70's.

I have none left and can't afford these new sleek ones :cry

Far as Chogokin go, I've got none. The closest I have is the CM's Genesic Gaogaigar:

Bandai hasn't done any SOC Gundam stuff, but the Kado Senshi series from a couple of years back (and still available through eBay and some online shops) had a Gundam, a GM, a regular Zaku, Char's Zaku, and the Shiki, plus paint variants on most of those. Also, Bandai released a Metal Material Model Turn A, Strike Gundam (in a couple of variants), and recently the GQ variants of the Impulse Gundam from Seed Destiny. All of these have different die cast content (some, like the Shiki, much more than others), but they are all pretty cool.
