When deciding to purchase a figure how much does the fact that that character is in the show or not? I know I like to complete the cast then consider non show characters i usually skip some repaints if there not in the show what are your thoughts ?

Honestly the movie line is the biggest for characters that were not in the movie getting toys and those are the better toys. They do not have to make them match how they look on the screen thus allowing for more creative and less kibbly designs. A bot getting a toy but not on screen never bothers me.

If it's a show character I'm almost guaranteed to buy it. If it's a non-show character I'll only get it if it's cool looking like PRiD Rumble.

Agreed, the movie line came out with so much 'rubbish', I never looked at them with any interest whatsoever.

Fiction is a big deal for me. Good/interesting fiction that is. Show appearance isn't necessarily important. For example Thunderwing is a character I like because he had an awesome storyline in the comics, but never showed up in the show.

Er, he was saying the "rubbish" was better than the on-screen characters' toys. And most were better.

    Doesn't matter to me.

Plus, without being restricted to a CGI/Animation model, they can make some excellent shit. Like HFTD Terradive.

I actually saw her the other day. Hated how she looked in package and remembering reviews it was a very easy pass.

I couldn't care less if it's a show character or not, a good toy is a good toy and z bad toy is a bad toy regardless.

I tend to only get show characters myself. I will make exceptions, but not often.

As much as I like the various medias I rarely feel compelled to complete any of the casts. Tried it when I first got into collecting TFs with the 07 Movie Decepticons and didn't enjoy it -- wasn't at all interested in any of the Megatron or Frenzy toys but still got some just to represent them.

While there are certainly characters I like so much I'll get the toy regardless, I generally buy a toy if I like the toy itself and not because of its fictional counterpart.

Show appearance isn't really important to me, I get the figures I like.I don't buy many dupes of certain characters no matter the line though, personal peeve

It's important, but more importantly is whether or not the character is new. I'm not going to buy Optimus Prime over and over again just because he's in fiction.

I generally buy the toys of the characters that I like, or if the figure itself is generally awesome, whether it's in any fiction or not.

i love off screen characters. some of my favorite figs are the scouts and mixed aesthetic figures from the rotf line

    - i get to charactarize them how i want
    - there likely isnt any cheating, because the figs dont have to match any designs
    - it lets the designers go crazy and work outside the box

I'd buy non-show characters. Like SeekerBlackour said, Terradive/Space Case is awesome.

RiD Dead End, Rumble, and Ironhide/Kup look excellent as well.

I like non-show characters just as long as it's a nice figure with a good repaint. If it's a bad choice of colors or it's a figure I didn't like in the first place then I skip a non-show figure.
