How hard would it be to actually make new dubs? They could probably use the prime cast?

 

A region 1 DVD release of Headmasters, Masterforce, and/or Victory would be great to have. But there are also other series that need attention that never got the proper treatment, such as Car Robot, Micron Densetsu, Super Link, and Galaxy Force. Granted, older generation needs it most, I can understand that. But does anyone remember the pain of seeing random half-finished scenes in Armada compared to the finished and polished ones in Micron Densetsu?

I'm all for a proper R1 DVD release of any of the G1 series that never saw the light of day here. But it only has my cold hard cash if the audio is original and the subtitle is proper. And by proper, I mean that it is properly translated (not a "dubtitle") and names are correctly used (do not use "Optimus Prime" when they call him Convoy).

If they need help finding people or need people to do the translation, they should call up Funimation and ask around (or ask for Steve Simmons -- he worked on all of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z).

 

so if the cpyright for japanese audio has been tied up somehow, how did the metrodome takara sets get released a few years ago? for the record, those were region free, so I'm not sure why so many people who wanted to see these shows haven't. they've been readily available (and discounted) for years.

well, great for those who really want a domestic US release I suppose.

Only headmasters was all region. Masterforce and victory was r2. They won't play on region 1 dvd players.

 

Please be re-dubbed. The versions I have seen were TERRIBLE!

 

I'll be in line to pick these up if they turn out to be proper R1 releases. This is potentially really good news.

Well, now that it is confirmed, I'm excited. I've only heard about these shows, never actually seen any of them. I'd be totally willing to buy them just for curiosity value. And I personally hope for both a sub and dub on the discs. With as close approximations to any departed actors as possible.

I think it's very likely that the cast of Prime will be recording a new English track for these. Peter Cullen voicing Optimus in the Takara episodes would be a trip.

 

I can't help but wonder if scramble city(with commercials in the right order) is going to be a part of this as well.

 

For me, it depends on how the audio is handled. If they have an option for original Japanese language with decent subtitles, I will gladly support and purchase this. I applaud them for listening to fan desires and working on something this ambitious.

Wow. I'm shocked.

This really is too good to be true. I've been wanting these in an official capacity for so long that I have already given up on it.

Now to see this may be a reality? I absolutely love Shout.

 

The Metrodome subtitles were spot on so I can see them being used unless there is some unknown reasons as to why they would need to be re-subbed. Royalities or something?

Did they actually call the characters by the correct names? i.e. Convoy, Ginrai, Cab, etc.?
