Granted I knew they wouldn't have killed him off, killing bumblebee now would be like Killing Optimus Prime, it just won't happen.

But, do you think they should've killed Bee off? It makes me wonder what kind of an impact it would've had, if any.

Yes. Kill him. He's a waste of money for Hasbro.

Parents and children alike would shit.

I can't say it'd have the same impact as Prime biting it in '86, but there'd certainly be a firestorm as a result.

If the films were darker in scope, killing BB would probably be more appropriate, but you can't really kill the face of your product, especially one that's as recognizable and "kid friendly" as Bumblebee. There's just so much that's tied to him: toys, comics, books, cartoons (his TF Prime animation model is a nod to this iteration of BB), party supplies, GM Camaro promotional materials, misc collectibles, etc.

I wouldn't if I were Bay. Then all the autobots would be fighting over who gets his screen time between takes.

Sure they'ed be pissed, but when you think about it, kids are getting sick of him having so many toys. I mean, just go to a Target, TRU or a Walmart. Chances are that you'll see the same color, yellow, most of the time. Meaning that, kids don't want leader Bumblebee or Nitro Bumblebee or whatever bumblebee is out at the time. For example, Leader class toy shipments contain a fair amount of Bumblebee and Sentinel or Ironhide depending on the shipment. Later in like a week or so, Leader Bumblebee's are always left because every kid wants something new that isn't a character that they probably have like 3 or 4 toys of.

It's Bumblebee overload for sure, but I think Hasbro was just being cautious.

Satomiblood, it's telling that even in the '86 movie with its high body count including even Optimus biting the big one, even in *that* movie Bumblebee was a survivor, and remained so throughout the old series even though they found a way to make a new toy out of him with Goldbug. The kid friendly, hangs out most with humans character is just never gonna get offed.

Conversely Ironhide is always seemingly the perfect candidate to get murdered - tougher, appeals to adults and teens, a bodyguard/security guy who deliberately throws himself in harm's way, not the main character but important and central enough that his death always has a huge emotional impact to give a plot line dramatic weight. I'm surprised he made it all the way to the third movie actually.

Id make an argument that killing Bumblebee would leave a similar impact on todays youth that Optimus Prime's death had in 86. It'd probably have been one of the worst ideas in Transformers history. What would be the point anyways besides giving more screen time to other bots?

No, they just can't do it. Characters like Ironhide or Optimus can die because they are war heroes whose deaths give more drama, but Bee is a children's favorite. It would be like killing Winnie the Pooh.

This. IMHO Having Bumblebee executed would have been worse than the death of Optimus Prime in 1986.

Seeing as this movie was probably the last in the series, does that really matter?

If anything, killing him would just cause MORE people to buy merchandise because of how much he'd be missed.

I'd pay to see that actually.

Winnie the Pooh: What have you dooooone?
Eeyore: I hereby relieve you from duty.
    BOOM
Pooh disintegrates into a puddle of honey
