If this Optimus Prime dies too, then I'm going to Mars.

    Absolutely not! No!

In fact, I think the only autobots who should die from TF2 forward are Arcee, Arcee and maybe Arcee.

I wouldn't be in favour of Optimus dying a cliched hero's death. He deserves something new but still meanigful in terms of a final resolution/conclusion to his character now.

I've wondered sometimes about a temporary or false 'death' for him? Perhaps an unpredictable period of deactivation or coma-like stasis-lock after a battle? Or he could even lose his body (maybe deliberately) in a battle, but have his spark still preserved to be transferred into a new body? Or have us believe him dead in an explosion for a while but then he returns stronger and with the element of surprise? Or just been very close to death somehow.

No. He's Optimus Prime. He'll die, he just won't stay dead.

NO! It would be a goddamn insult to Peter Cullen, and would just remind him of when they first axed his most beloved character, throwing his hard work aside like it was all for nothing. NO.

I think he should die like obi wan did. Maybe as a lesson to the younger autobots.

He should at least get severely injured, or maybe a drug overdose.

    No.
As others have mentioned, Prime's death in the '86 movie left a lot of kids (and parents) really upset, and contributed to the decline of the series' popularity.
It'd be really, really stupid for Hasbro to make the same mistake that was made back then.

If he does get whacked in movie 2, then most if not all of movie 3's plot would be his resurrection. So no please.

His death in the original movie very nearly caused the complete end of the franchise. Enough so that when realized the effect had that they made a ressurection story arc just to bring back interest. While dramatic and generally well received as powerful cinema, it was a huge mistake in the end.

    No...

1.- In this time and age, Optimus is the face of Transformers (even more than Bumblebee) and probably a Pop Culture Icon.

2.- Because it was a traumatic scene in the Animated Movie... even if TFM is more oriented to an older kids audience and teneegers, is still a WTF moment.

3.- Cynical viewers and Critics would detect the same thing from the first movie: killing character to move newer and "cooler" toys (or in this case, a new young leader).

4.- I don't think Micheal Bay could pull it off, specially in a 2 hours Movie with many robots and Characters (and I like Bay)

    Hell NO.
Part of why I dislike the animated movie so much is because they killed him off.
Seeing the CGI Optimus voiced by Cullen in the first movie was one of the sweetest TF-related things ever, thus I really don't want him killed off.

Plus we already get that he's the self-sacrificing type from the first movie, we don't need every follow up movie having Optimus volunteering to off himself for the greater good.

My vote goes No. I've seen it enough times. And while it could make for good writing, it's also rather cliche. I'd rather the icon that is Prime actually survive this time.

It really doesn't have anything to do with the '86 movie--that was a different context. (as explained, cartoon characters never died before) I just want to see him live. Plain and simple.

According to tradition, he's not BELIEVED to be dead, he usually IS. Despite that I say NO.

I say "no" to killing off Optimus. It was a bad idea in the original animated film and it's still a bad idea. I certainly don't want to see Rodimus Prime show up in TF3.

HELL NO to Optimus Prime being killed off. He dies every single fraggin' time in almost EVERY universe! Done to death. Do NOT want to see Hot Rod take up the Prime mantle. And as much as I adore Movieverse!Bumblebee - I do not want to see Bumblebimus Prime. Massive, massive WTF. Plus, we've lived through the initial childhood trauma - do we really want to scar a new generation of kids?
