Does anyone here think that Nelson Shin should be in the HOF next year? After all, for a lot of people born in the 90's, the movie was their first exposure to G1.

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes yes yes. This makes so much more sense to me than having Michael Bay get in. He's one of the primary people responsible for what I consider Transformers finest product. I can't see any reason why the answer to this question could possibly be "no".

I have a violent dislike against anyone with the name "Nelson" right now, so I'm a bit biased.

What you call the Transformers finest product, I call the death of the G1 cartoon. So no, he doesn't get my vote.

He should, but then have the award taken away immediately for backing AKOM. :)

    No. Just no.

Sure he works for Bay, but he's lied to us too many times to win my vote. Then again, we're not voting....

Yes, because IMO, he did a much better job directing than anyone else has with the franchise (coughbaycough).

Nope, because his film wasn't a commercial success and signalled the beginning of a downturn for the franchise.

What exactly made it the "death the G1 cartoon"? That they killed off the more boring characters who had their chance to shine, or that they brought in a new line of more interesting characters?

I think that some of the older Transformers fans who were maybe around 10 years old when the original Transformers movie came out aren't able to look at the movie objectively. I was about five years old when the movie came out. So I hadn't been watching the original cartoon for a couple of years. I think that being the case, I've been more objective about the original Transformers movie than some of the older Transformers fans.

I think it would be nice, and all of the choices Hasbro have made so far are well deserved.

Yes. His movie introduced several iconic elements of the mythos that thrive to this day.

I'm going to give this one a firm "No."

Nostalgia glasses off, the film wasn't good, nor was it well taken by the public. It did nothing to introduce The Transformers to a greater audience, and instead alienated many fans of the first seasons of the cartoon.

At least with Bay's films, they introduced Transformers to a much larger audience, brought many old time fans back into the franchise (even if only to bash the films and proclaim their Geewun-ness), and made Hasbro millions (leading to a larger budget for toy design and production as well as new projects such as Animated and Prime).

I see your point. I'm one of the older fans. I was 11 when the movie came out, and, yeah, I was shocked at all the death, but, I grew up hearing war stories, so I knew that people, or, in this case, Bots, die in war, so, for me, TFTM was more realistic compared to the rest of the series.
