I wasnt sure where to post this thread.

Anyway, I have had 'Shackwave' or some sort of version for at least 10 years now. I lost his gun cover (of COURSE) somewhere in that time, but thats beside the point. His legs are still tight and I stopped extending them years ago (as with my Galvatron) because I prefer the way they look with the other Cons but also to save them from going "wiggly" on me.
His hose has a slight crack but I would say his hose is still in great condition, you cant even see that part unless you look for it.
His ears will flop down if you bump the table or whatnot, but they stay up pretty good and his head hasnt popped off yet.

So I'm pretty satisfied with him still after all this time.

But I cant decide If I should paint him purple????

First of all the dark grey looks good on him. Only Its not him, ya know? Mine has Red laser arm, Red eye-face, weird star designs on his leg.....His chest looks different from the G1 Shockwave. Its not clear. It has two red plastic pieces on either 'pec' but the middle is solid grey......

What do you guys think? He's in pretty great condition, his noises still work and lights work...........

Should I (try) to make him a dark purple, or just be happy with what I have and try to find a real one someday???

    I'm confused.........

just get a few reprolabels decepticon symbols and that will spruce him right up. I personally wouldn't paint it.....but that's probably because I'm no good at painting things.

alright, thanks guys, it sounds pretty hands down. I appreciate the input. I'm still getting around to posting pics of my collection. I dont have many shelves, and I dont want them getting hurt by the sun.
I'll take some pics , maybe this week, just to do it. Its really meager compared to some of the stuff I've seen here.

The grey one with red parts is particularly hard to find and much more valuable then a hasbro shockwave, its your toy naturally but you'd be better off just picking up a hasbro one or even the newish bootleg of him .

A G1 shockwave can be found cheap enough that theres no need to paint your Shackwave.

I have a shockwave in my sale thread for $50

Instead of repainting, you could just name it "Longarm" :)

Yeah....I'm also on the side of not repainting him. Shackwave has become a real unique piece all on his own.

I am on the side of "do not paint."
Even if you do, one thing to keep in mind is that the gun trigger is different between Shackwave and Shockwave. It would still be pretty easy to tell the two apart even if the color is matched.

Don't paint him! Shackwave is just as cool as Shockwave, and a valid part of TF history in his own right.

I would paint him, it does not sound like you have any plans to sell him later on, so why not.

Can we see pictures of your Shockwave? What's the condition of his original paint? If it's crisp and clean, I'd leave it alone. If it's scratched up and what not, then repaint him. But like other's said, this version is probably more rare than the purple TF version. I remembered having the Shack-wave as a kid as well. Too bad I never kept any of my toy's from childhood. The only thing I've managed to keep from childhood TF related is my old G1 TF blanket! LOL! Still got that thing and it's still in great condition!

Anyway, pictures of it's current condition will help.
