Is it really worth the money to join the Collector Club? I mean the cheapest price is $40 and you get 6 magazines plus the figure? Are the magazines worthwhile? I normally haven't had any interest in the exclusives but I am really liking that Sideburn this year.....What is everyone's opinion?

I joined for the free figure. The magazine is nice but not much substance.

The Magazines are kind of lame if you ask me. To be honest, we already have a good idea of what the club will be offering this year

    Free Figure
    Sideburn (Classics Rodimus)

    Store Figures
    G2 Ramjet (Classics Ramjet)
Not sure if they are going to sell more?

    Convention
    Botcon Set Menasor (Animated Jazz/Arcee/Lockdown/Rodimus)

So if that stuff just jumps off the page, SIGN UP! If not... wait till next year.

Classics Roddy repainted as RID Sideburn is worth the cost of admission. Do it.

The TOTAL of the benifits are (sorry if I miss any after saying total lol)...
1 Free figure per calander year
    6 magazines
A discount on botcon tickets which is said to be more than the $40 you'd pay to join (this is from the botcon site...but I don't know how much the discount is personally)
A discount on current and prior Botcon and TFCC exclusives
A members section with stories, wallpaper, a forum (A lot of good people post there but it is not 1/100th as busy as this forum).
And in the case of the recent Toyfair 2011 there were pictures which were not found elsewhere (at least at the time of publishing).

All and all I am VERY happy to be a member.

I was given a membership as a Christmas gift and so far I've enjoyed the magazine and the site. The free figure and exclusives are looking cool too. I'd be inclined to say it's definitely worth it, but then again, I didn't have to pay for it :p

I pretty much decided that if I sell one more item on ebay, I will join. I don't want to spend the money I already made, so the next item sold will pay for it. I just shake the feeling that I got to have Sideburn. I'd love to see a set of RiD-themed Classics.

It boils down to pretty much this at least for me:

40$ for a sideburn figure using a good mold? Count me in.

It's worth it if you're in the US. Outside the US, then it all hinges on whether you're planning on going to Botcon.

It's worth it if you plan on buying at least one of the exclusive figures, since it'll probably cost you the price of the figure plus membership fees to buy them on the aftermarket. The magazines and other perks don't hurt either.

IMO the mags suck. I mean, if you're into fan cannon and comics of that nature, toy showings that will be available a week later on the net and generally uninformative interviews that have either been done before or will be available on the net a few weeks later... sure, go for it.

The real prize of your membership IMO is the "free" figure, discount on the club store and Botcon discount. Hell, if you just want the "free" figure I say it's worth it. I was signed up last year and Dion was totally worth it. This year, I really don't see the point since they're giving us a new version of a RID character using a newer but less articulated mold which just isn't my thing. Maybe next year I'll join back up.

Aw crap in a hat.... I forgot about this one.... damn, I may have to reconsider now.....

Also, normally the G2 ramjet would totally sell me... If I hadn't already made my custom :D

My girlfriend subscribes me every year. I'm glad she does. The magazines aren't much but the figures and stuff on their website are good. I've got some good deals on exclusives through their store before.

If you like the "free" figure and/or plan on going to BotCon, then it's definitely worth the price. Otherwise, no.

The magazine is godawful and seems to have been getting worse over the last year, so that's definitely not an incentive to join.

    One question about this figure:

Do they have their own display boxes or are they loose?

The freebie is loose. The G2 Ramjet and CHeetor will have a box. Its a shame that the Sideburn doesn't get a nice box to go with it.
