    Here's my situation:

I usually play at gigs and house parties. I've recently been playing at my local night club on certain Saturday nights as a Special Guest. Recently, I've been approached by the guy who owns the club (It's a under 18 club, teens goes there every weekend) to play at the club regularly on Saturday nights from 11PM to 1AM. The guy said that he would pay me US$175 every night after my set. All the decks are provided too. So, should I take the job? Do take note that I'm only 15, I still have homework to do.

And Murasame, no it's not Club Cybertron. It's a different club called Club Ex-Toxic, another under 18 club. But I'm still playing at Club Cybertron at the end of this year.

EDIT: I got the job people! Thanks for your support! I'll post up my story of the first night next week!

Why would you not take it? You obviously really love being a dj, now you can get paid for it. That would classify you as a professional dj.

Experience on your belt. Wear it proudly.

Since you're a teen yourself you can probably have fun there too. Why not?

My main concern is that I may not have enough time for my school projects and stuff like that. Especially when I have loads of homework over the weekend.

Like Liokaiser said, its just a few hours a week. You will just have to work harder to make it happen, don't let circumstance dictate what you do in your life man, go for it.

Sure, it's only three hours out of your weekend. You'll still have another forty five to do homework and school projects. I'd say take it!

And you'd be paid good money too.

    Wow...

As a teacher, I love reading about your concerns regarding homework.

As someone who remembers what it was like to be 15, I think you should go for it.

In many cases, a large or complex project will be more than a few days. You can work on them more during the week or earlier in the weekend. If the assignments are shorter and the quantity is an issue, really push yourself the rest of the weekend to complete them.

$175 a week is GREAT money for 15 years old. Plus, if you enjoy being a DJ, you are going to need experience in smaller clubs before moving onto something larger.

Pretty much what everyone else said, as I honestly can't see this being a bad move in any way. Worst case is that you fall behind on school, but you can always do homework at other times, and you might have other distractions anyway. This is just a way to make good money & get good experience, so again, really not seeing a negative here other than potentially having to play shitty music to appeal to your audience which is something you'd be doing regardless. :D

    (sorry, had to hah)

$175 for 2 hrs per night, you'd be mad not...Plus you'd have paid work experience. Take it or you might regret it! I also find it hard to believe that a 15 yr old has not enough time to do something else for 2 hours. The only real issue for you is the time, if your parents don't mind you comin home late then go for it!

Oops, my math was wrong, I counted 3 hours, not 2. That is $87.50/hour, even better!

Thanks guys, gonna give the guy a call right now.

Oh and did I mention that the drinks were free for DJs? :D  Of course there's no alcohol cause' it's an under 18 club. :(

And btw, I'm booked for a gig on new year's eve. That's a US$350 gig, every kid in school's going to that rave until 1AM! That's like over 1000 people! Oh. My. God. Frickin' excited and scared at the same time! Lol

Go for it. If only with your new hectic schedule you'll have less time to post stuff like 'adele is pregnant' lol

Doing something you love and getting paid for it? It's a nobrainer I say.

As long as you can handle both your school work load and the gig do it. Just practice sound time management.

Do you have anything else you need to do at that time?
Do you have any better offers?
Will you be penalized if it doesn't work out and you back out?
Have you heard any bad stories about this club?

If the answer to all of the above is "no", I don't see a reason not to.
