I think that the clip weapons that Hasbro has introduced fairly recently is one of THE BEST features that they've ever done......EVER.

This makes for some fun mix-and-match interchangeable possibilities which are endless.

Thus far we've seen it in ROTF, HFtD, Generations, and DoTM....did I forget any?

My question is, should Hasbro and/or a 3rd party come out with clip-on weapons packs of all different shapes and sizes that have a large number of different pieces?

I think that it would be a smart idea and if you think so too then vote in the poll and get our voices heard. I know that there are lurkers from all walks of Hasbro and 3rd party design that follow our boards.

Yes because it would allow us to give our Transformers more guns than Rambo.

    3rd party or Shapeways, yes.

Hasbro...seems like it's just not something they'd be interested in.

I'm saying no, not because I dislike the idea it's just that I'd rather Hasbro put effort, time and money in to making TFs.

So, I'd say yes to 3rd Party. (Whoever made the Inferno ladder, for example).

    Yes!

That's a part of why I like Mechtech, though I do really think it's more likely we'll be able to get it from a 3rd Party :thumbs2:

But comparatively, a 3rd party set would cost three times the money to buy as an official Hasbro release.
If Hasbro isn't going to do it, even though I'd really like new weapons, I'd pass.

    Previous thread

Hasbro's not going to do it. A 3rd party set seems pointless since it would cost more than just buying extra Hasbro figures for just the weapons. I think the only option is stuff like the basic HA figures: it's a complete figure so something Hasbro would market, transforms into a weapon mode and has some clip-on weapons included.

as much i would love to have some replacement weapons, i wouldn't buy em'. i'd feel gypped if i did. buying just weapons is pointless.

I'd be all over that. Not just clip ons but weapons in general. I was hoping for WFC weapons. I'm generally in favor of more guns.

I'd rather Hasbro/Takara devote their time and resources on engineering new figures. It's more feasible for an outside company to produce these weapons packs since they're 100% dedicated to the collector demographic. Weapons add-ons are more commonly requested from collectors than they are children anyway. Hasbro/Takara can't focus on a niche in the fandom for too long. This is where the other companies like FP, PE, and iGear come in.

p.s. The poll needs more options IMO.

I don't want sets of clip on weapons unless they are thought thru and designed well.

    What I mean is this:

My requirements for a weapon pack that I would buy:

    1. It has a 5mm peg
    2. It has a 3mm clip
    3. It is painted nicely
    4. There is a transforming ability. (see FP's transforming shotguns and sniper rifle)

i think they cshould take mech-tech to a new level-good looking guns that turn into good-lookin melee weapons. so you could have a gun and a sword in one

Would be a good HasbroToyShop exclusive. No new tooling, just repaints of existing clip weapons. I bet it would sell like crazy too, lots of fans seem to dig it.

No, I don't care for them. Some of the official ones are sometimes loose around the bar they're attached to, it's annoying. Also, you can achieve the same effect with pegs and peg holes.

Had to go no on this simply because the number of figures that come with clip weapons is enough to make this pointless.

I would buy it. I don't like paying for figures I don't want that badly just to get their weapons.

I'm into arming up my figures. If they just released the ones they have made for other figures in one package, I would eat that up.
