definitely not G3. i call it classics but i could live with generations seeing as how the line includes multiple continuity characters in the classics aesthetic.
It can't be G3. G3 would be whatever series that came after the rainbow-colored G2 series was. With WST's, MP's, and others, it's probably more like Generation Five or Six or whatever!
Classics would be fine. Chug won't stick/will change when Hasbro/Takara comes out with a new line featuring the Classic aesthetic
it should not be called g3 it should not be called chug it should just be called classics for referencing the line as a whole and individually they should be refered to by the name of the toyline they came out as like generations thrust or universe 2.0 prowl, that way people KNOW what you are talking about end of story
Fans Project made G3 official on their unofficial trailer. Is FansProject wrong then? I call the current Classics G3 regardless. It is an all encompassing name for remade characters of the past, not just G1.
no, it would be g3 if it had its own story to go with it, if it was a continuation of the original generation 1 story with the new designs. classis is just a toyline if you want to be technical, you would call beast wars g3
Except that FansProject isn't official at all, and G3 is more of their nickname for the trailer than outright calling the Classics-style "G3".
Well in this case, Universe 2 Beast Wars Deluxe Cheetor, Dinobot, and Voyager Leo Prime are part of G3. How else can one catagorize these toys? Classic, G1, Armada, Cybertron, and Beast Wars are series as indicated in some packaging. Universe is a toyline/ universe that contains the many series. Generations, Henkei, United, and Reveal the Shield are at the same level as Universe, although RTS is an Autobot Alliance subline. Some series can also be universes/toylines like RID. The best way in my opinion to unite these various toylines and series is to give it a common name like G3 or Classics. Within this common name there are series that can divide into other categorize. I really think we as collectors need a uniform way to categorize the toys so that it will be easier to keep track of them. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/trans...ify-transformers-toys.html?highlight=classify
It is whatever you say it is. As long as the person you're talking to understands what you're talking about, what does it matter? You're absolutely never going to get a bunch of people who can't even agree on how tall Optimus Prime should be to do anything in a uniform way unless you get Hasbro to write it on the packages. And even then, they'd argue about how to pronounce it.
Fansproject makes a bunch of knock off toys.... so there's that. OP if you want to call it G3, call it G3, it's cool. It's a pretty all encompassing name, it works. For those saying CHUGS no longer works, change H from 'Henkei' to 'Hunt for the Decepticons' and you got it working again. I call it Neo-G1 myself, but CHUGS when talking to you guys, since that's what the majority uses.
It's not what the majority uses. Try listing toys as CHUG on eBay and see how much you waste in listing fees.
But trying to sell a figure is a different environment than just casually talking about the same figure on a message board. Anyone who'd use CHUG as a phrase to sell by is... well, quite frankly, not really paying attention.
The name doesn't bother me, nor should it bother anybody else. But, yes, G3 does fit quite nicely, now I think about it.
