Like the title says, should Bay be replaced if there is a TF4?
While I did like his TF films I think he should stay making small-time films. What do you think?

Note that I have another thread with a similar title that should not be commented on.

No. Regardless of what long term fans think of the quality, Bay's Transformers movies are making big money for Hasbro. He's doing something right.

Someone else may cater more towards the fans or they may take Transformers movies further away to what they "should" be like. Either way, they are not guaranteed to do as well as Bay did profitably.

    ^This.

Bay never cared about the actual stars of the movies. The Transformers.

Why do you think anyone went to see those movies it's sure as hell not Sam Witwicky and his escapades to well um........get lucky.

he did some things pretty well yes...

But so did the movie production team, the designers, the ILM company and its animators, Don Murphy, etc. It's their accomplishment just as much as Bay's, if not, more.

Couple above mentioned with a new director and a new scriptwriter and you might have the ingredients to take the franchise to a new level.

Bay said himself he's not coming back even if they do have a 4th movie. That was the point of that big thank you and goodbye. This poll is pointless.

Um, no it won't. It'll be easy. Just find someone that can do great action scenes while still having an interesting story and bam, good Transformers movie.

Who else has the ability to do on-location action scenes that are not in the forest and take up half a cityscape?

Or, be some kind of George Lucas director and do it all green-screen.

By now the technoloy should stand and be "routinely" implemented. So please yes, another director AND a capable scriptwriter. ROTF and DOTM did bring nothing new to the table.

Yeesh guys, maybe the thread should have been "If Bay wanted to stay, should he still be replaced if there was a TF4?" because you guys are hard on for that point that he is gone for directing. Come on guys focus on who should be the next director.

Shouldn't there be a "I go to see Transformers movies because of the Transformers, not the director" option?

I'm not going to care if Bay comes back or not. There's a lot he brings to the table, and there's a lot I wish he did differently.

I think it's pretty silly to throw out all the big A-list names as possible directors, because in all honesty I can't see why they would want to join the franchise, especially after 3 successful movies.

What's probably going to happen, if Bay somehow decides he doesn't want an extra $100 million, is you're going to get an up-and-coming director. Someone who has everything to prove.
