Should a Transformers Animated Comic... Have Animated Art Style?

......or could it still work with more detailed and dynamic art style? I want to see the story go on and while it's animated I do enjoy the design.

But in a comic book, I do like to be visually dazzled like I was in War Within.

Do you think a TFA comic line would need the series "cartoon" style?

?? I'm not sure I follow. Like, the characters are drawn the same? Then yes.

This, "Animated: The Arrival" #1-6 (it ended when Safeguard showed up) is dead-on Animated style. Wheeljack even gets lines in it.

Nope! Haven't seen the IDW. Is it simplified like the DC Adventures? Personally, I just want more... I dunno.. more detail in an actual comic book. I'd follow TFA to a comic line, but I wouldn't be too happy if I got the flat and simplified DC Adventures I've seen.

Just go onto Google and look it up. Hell, go to tfwiki.net and look up "Punch of Kill Everything" and you shuold get results for comic art.

There are "Boo's" designs, which are over-stylized, slightly more detailed Animated characters. the downside is they look positively scary sometimes, like something out of a convoluted Tim Burton movie.

Thanks! I'm going to backflip and transform in to not worrying about it anymore.

    That art's just what I'd want. :)

I like that he pushes the designs. Makes them more streamlined and expressive. I think he's done the best job to date with translating Animated to comic form.

    I agree, Bumblethumper.

It's sad that we've never seen his take on the humans, just Marcelo's awesome take on Sari, the Angry Archer, and Prof. Princess, and Dario Brizuela's ripped-from-Bruce-Timm's desk generic humans and Sarri's terrifying pentagon head and craploads of dull surprise, even in the robots.

And Optimus's tiny, tiny lips. And... Dario just can't draw in the Animated style.

Personally, I think the visual style of Animated is part of what makes it what it is, so an Animated comic should look like the Animated TV series. That doesn't mean that every panel has to be a carbon copy of a still frame from the show. There can be variation in look and detail, but I don't see it working well if something like E.J. Su's mechanical detail style was applied instead - for example.

Hmm, I wonder what Derek Yaniger is doing nowadays? :)

My icon is cut from the unused cover of Arrival 6. It has the same Animated design. :thumbs2:

'Cept Jetstorm is kinda green...

I actually think that an Animated comic drawn in a more "G1" style might be pretty cool. I'd buy it.

I'm a bit late to this discussion, but why call it animated if you're going to re do it? Animated is animated for its aesthetics and story.

What Transformed said. Although I would be cool with some liberties, as long as in the end it stays reminiscent of Animated's original style.

Because we are only talking about changing the aesthetic, not the story.

Look up MarkerGuru on DA, he's done a couple of Transformers Animated pics using G1-style detail and they look really rad. And imo, it would make for a really killer comic.

Mr. Isenberg can follow in the footsteps of Greg Weisman who faced a similar situation with Gargoyles. Do a comic that picks upw here season 3 ended.

I just want Animated to continue somehow.
