I noticed in G1 season 1 and 2 some characters had like one appearence only without any history or background or what ever happen to them afterwards: Skids, Devcon and Fuler does anyone knows why or is it just a stupid toy thing again.

    Stupid toy thing.

Tigerhawk had a really short appearence for such an awesome dude. Essentialy a God, he shows up with three eps left and dies in the finale. :(

Tigerhawk is in Beast Wars, you're thinking of Tigertrack, who is not in the G1 series.

Swerve has a couple cameos in G1 though.

Yeah i got messed up between them. I liked Devcon showed maturity and preserverence, he could of been a great asset to Prime. Do you think he would of been second in command if he came to earth?

Nah, not enough of a team player, and no toy to sell, so he'd never be a main character.

Devcon was just a toon-only guy who didn't have a toy to sell and didn't fill any real kind of easily-recurring niche, so he didn't really "need" to come back (compared to, say, Alpha Trion, whose "wise old sage and creator of Prime" shtick made him a good recurring character to use when the cartoon finally started fleshing out the history of its universe).

Skids is a bit of an anomaly. He had a toy so they had reason to sell him, but I don't think anyone really knows why he had so little exposure.

Wasnt he underproduced or something? I recall him being somewhat rare, but that could be because noone knew who he was, so there's less of him available on the secondary market.

Trailbreaker, Brawn, Sideswipe, Sunstreaker, Red Alert didnt have sugnificant roles in Season 2 Volume 2 is that due to their toy discontinuation?

Nah, probably more like they got the Hasbro mandate to push all the NEW toys and somebody has to get left behind.

Keep in mind that by the end of Season 2, Hasbro is pushing combiners as a significant component of the toyline, and each combiner is effectively six characters, and they had FOUR to push in a relatively small number of episodes.

Animated Swindle was only on for two episodes, but thankfully his prescence was memorable enough to leave a lasting impression, and I'm still happy with what we got from him.

Rodimus' team and Strika's Team Charr were on for the opening sequence of an episode (bar Ironhide) and that's it... they were so cool. And only Oil Slick got a full-fledged toy at mass retail. Rodimus and Ironhide were TRU exclusives (and not too common at that), and Blackout was never released in the US at all.

In Prime, well, we could always open up the can-a-worms about Cliffjumper, Skyquake, and Makeshift.

I always thought the character was "LOOSELY" based on this powerdasher from the mail away figures.

What sto said. I never heard of "Fuler" either, and neither has the TFWiki:

Skids got a lot of ink in the Marvel G1 comics -- appeared in several issues, and even got a solo story where he had an almost-fling with a human chick.

I've always wondered if that was some kind of compensatory action. Very few characters got the solo spotlight to the extent that Skids did in the Marvel comics, literally going out and have an adventure on his own, and not with all the other new toys in his wave. I've wondered if it was a case of Hasbro ringing Marvel, and saying "Look, we've ballsed this up and bit and not got the cartoon people the information on this one last toy we threw into the wave after the others. Any chance you could big him up to make up for it?"

Most likely your correct, in the Marvel comics it was rare to get any solo stories especially out of a second stringer like Skids. Still I'll always have a soft spot in my heart for those Marvel TF comics I grew up with.

But I digress, It'd be interesting if someone from Sunbow or Marvel remembers anything about this. Have you ever asked any of the people you interviewed on the Moonbase 2 podcast?

Could the OP be refering to Hauler when he says Fuler?

If not then you all thought what I did....Who the heck is Fuler? lol

And witht hat said, Hauler only appeared once and didn't even show off his bot mode. Although he did later show up as Grapple, but that was a totally different character.
