I am greatly sad at this unfortunate incident and all who have suffered loss.

At the same time, this makes me want to start packing some heat. I realize the perp was wearing full body armor, but imagine if there had been at least one person, 2 people, 5 people in the audience who had a handgun and possibly trained. I wonder how the scenario would have played out.

I read about shit like this and it seems to scream to me 2nd amendment rights and the fact that more of us should carry. But I could be dumb.

 

We have a lot more people in less space with more opportunity. And it doesn't matter what laws are in place or not. If someone is going to do something as heinous as this, he's going to find a way to do it.

After all, we have laws against murder and yet...

I went to see the Dark Knight tonight, and there were cops and security everywhere. This tragedy is the new Virginia Tech. It's almost like a cycle of evil psychos every few years. They just come out of the wood work, and surprise everyone with their ruthless, and senseless violence.

I'd say something like 'what is this world coming to', but with the massive amounts of crime, murder, violence, vice, and suffering that goes un-publicized, this singular event is only a glimpse of what this world has really become.

 

It's pretty hard to ignore the obvious.

People have been senselessly murdering each other since our species first learned to hold their fists up. While this specific event is a real tragedy that legitimately brings tears to my eyes, I'd rather you didn't pretend that the world wasn't always full of shit like this. If anything, be glad our race has enough common morality to think "Wow this is fucking abhorrent" instead of "meh, big deal".
