Hasbro have updated their site with many new pictures of the toys including some interesting bio of some of the characters. Here is the most interesting about Shockwave.

"Cruelly efficient and unfeelingly logical, Shockwave came to Earth in search of the AllSpark shortly after Megatron. His cold devotion to logic and his peerless intellect, combined with his raw physical strength, make him one of the few Decepticons that can truly be called Megatron's rival. After decades of imprisonment underneath Chernobyl, Shockwave has begun to stir, awaiting his chance to escape his prison and avenge himself on his captors, his rivals and his enemies alike."

Remember the Laserbeak scene from the trailer?

It definitely takes place at Pripyat (the ghost city which was mostly affected by the Chernobyl disaster).
Here is a picture of Pripyat (Chernobyl) with it's abandoned Ferry Wheels

So this means that Laserbeak (and maybe Soundwave) are searching for Shockwave at Chernobyl and we know that Ironhide, Prime and Lenox have a side mission in Ukraine so maybe they'll all meet there in a classic battle scene. :)

Just to add something. Remember that Shockwave crash landed in Tunguska in 1908 in the prequel comics. I guess after that they moved him to Chernobyl.

Wasn't Shockwave's location and backstory told in IDW's TF Rising Storm #2?

.... does not look like the same wheel to me aside from both being run down.

but I'd say that Eastern Europe is a good guess and that wheel might have been picked due to its resemblance

Shockwave was there once, but he's gone now. Maybe they are looking for clues of his activity there, or maybe he has a lab hidden in the vicinity.

Of course it's not the same wheel. I'm pretty sure that they never filmed there. This Wheel is just very popular for that region.

If not the discovery of the Ark on the Moon, this scene in Chernobyl has to be the opening scene to the movie (if not one of the first). It would be epic if Optimus were to start the film having a short combat sequence against a disgruntled and grouchy Shockwave, before the the Decepticon retreats (possibly with Lazerbeak and/or Soundwave to meet Megatron in Africa). Although, I do think Lazerbeak will get killed early on (probably in this scene in Chernobyl) and Soundwave will stay in space for a short while longer.

I also remember seeing a scene someone had videoed a while back where Optimus drives past along with his trailer in a similar gloomy setting to that of Lazerbeak's depiction in the trailer. Maybe he's carrying some friends in the back? Time will tell...

Oh, this film's repetitious just seems to be getting better and better!

That sucks. Means that Cybertron was absent of both Megatron AND Shockwave for eons. I can't see the Decepticons winning the war without either of them. Who else is smart enough to lead the Decepticons other than these two?

Or the movies are contradicting the Prequel Comic Books again.
