Ok after seeing all the new trailers and what-not...it appears that shockwave (a talented, emotionless assassin) is more of a threat than The Fallen (the ruler of all Decepticons)..I think that is kinda lame.
does anyone else see this? and why do you think this is so?

The fallen was kind of a BS character I mean his name in the title and he´s in the poster and is in the movie for what? 15 minutes? not to mention he didnt put up any resistance and his face earned a spot above Optimus´ fireplace.

Shockwave is the faceless one, therefor he's the only one Prime fears!

that's how they make it seem, but in the tv spot we see prime obliterate shockwave with one brass knuckle'd punch to the gut. in ROTF, prime needed an upgrade from one of the most powerful decepticons (albeit old and worn out) to even get to the fallen, much less kill him and fight megatron.
so i'd say no, shockwave doesn't hold a candle to the fallen, but megatron and the fallen should really talk it out over who's the most powerful there :D

The only contradiction is that you need a prime to kill the fallen and anyone with enough skill to kill shockwave

which scene is he more threatening in, the one where he is exploding from a punch to the side or where he seems to be being shooting sparks from being hit in the face?

I thought they did a poor job of implementing The Fallen in ROTF. I never liked him as the "Decepticon Leader". It undermined Megatron as a villain. I always believed that it would've been better if The Fallen was portrayed as a raw and powerful entity without a faction (neither Autobot, nor Decepticon) that Megatron wanted to groom and manipulate for his own benefit. For example, convincing him that the Autobots were hurting the survival of their species and promising him the rank of Decepticon Leader or something to that effect. It would've been appropriate considering Megatron's character.

book did a little better job in that degree,
the end scene was megatron basically saying "smell you later" to the fallen after finding out he wasn't going to be bestowed any special powers from him.

Come on guys, The Fallen was a BAMF, sure he died quickly but GOD DAMN'IT, THAT VOICE! that voice is BADASS!

Tony Todd equals awesomeness, you can't argue with that.

Uh... the Fallen can lift TANKS up in the air with his MIND! He can freaking teleport! Can Shockwave do any of that? No.

I'd say the Fallen was a much bigger threat.

Of course, Optimus takes both their faces. :p

No, he doesn't. He punches a hole in his side, and even then we have no idea if they fought before, or what condition Shockwave is in.

The Fallen didn't really give me much of a wow factor. I've got a feeling Shockwave will have some awesome moments though. A fight between the two though, i couldn't pick.

doesnt matter who you are, exploding like that is never good. i'm no cybertronaian doctor but i'd say his condition is falling on the "poor" side.

Considering how fast he dies in the novel and comic adaptation,
I think they're about equal. And, you know,
he isn't even the main villain

I for one hope that Shockwave ends up being the badass villain that I've been waiting for since TF1. For two movies now, Megatron has been more of an easy-to-defeat joke than his G1 version, and The Fallen was just pure ridiculousness from start to finish. Hopefully Shockwave ends up being the guy that actually gets some real damage done and isn't taken out like a chump after a couple of punches & flips.

I liked the concept of the Fallen, but I didn't like his voice. It sounded too stereotypically evil, I'm sure he wasn't "evil" when he was born (along with his brothers and sister).

The original OP does have a good point. It doesn't make for an overall good trilogy when the villain of the 2nd film is basically a god with abilities that go beyond any Transformer, whether they be Decepticon or Autobot. The "ultimate being" villain should always be the final villain to be faced within a trilogy, in my opinion.

But we have Bay to thank for that. I think he was too eager to make ROTF bigger than TF1 that he just got lost with the whole Fallen concept he was working on.

The fallen was also an idiot. In the final desert battle, he could've destroyed all the humans when Prime was still dead, but nooo, he waits until Prime is revived to show up and then gets his ass handed to him in like 2 minutes.
