I think it's more people were impressed by the creepy monotoned "Scary Smart" Shockwave in FoC. They didn't realise he could be portrayed that way outside the comics.

Myself I'd like Corey Burton to voice Shockwave, but it depends on how he's portrayed, if he's like Marvel Shockwave, I don't think he fits.

To be honest, I want him to keep his voice from Fall of Cybertron. Although, he uses the same in the DS version of War for Cybertron, so I guess I've warmed up to more than other people.
